  4. Can't wait for my second TB!!! EcoBound, any chances you can put up a little tent or something at the top of the mountain? For the ladies (like me) who are very shy and needs a place to change to dry clothes. I know the toilets are there, but you know how they look after a few hours and when its dark (yukky) Everything else is perfect and everything well organised! Thanks for a great event!!
  5. The average at 14km/h - is that with or without the "stops" at the checkpoints, (total riding time)
  6. About the cross training - yes, I think its lik push ups; running etc. I usually do a short run (not really a runner) and then I do my own "circuit" - arms; stomach; legs; bum etc... About the indoor trainer - I'm not sure - as I said, its hours in the saddle, so I think indoor trainer will be fine, but not every day. When I see that I can train some more hours "today", then I usually do it and cut back on the other days if you know what I mean. You must plan your week in advance - it make it a lot easier and you stay committed. Now I sounds like I know very much - its just my opinion.
  7. Not entered yet, but thinking of maybe doing it. I'm doing the training program from the Trans Baviaans website. Don't think I'll be fit enough, but I'm gonna try. Anyway, don't count the km's you are doing - count the hours in the saddle!! Good luck!
  8. I'm thinking of doing just the one way, but just saw on the internet its R440!! What do you think - is it worth R440? Looks like its just water along the road and bananas halfway. (not that I'm doing it for the food) But what else except the wonderful ocean and scenery do you get for R440? I have accomodation, so don't need that.

  11. Ek is so twee weke gelede amper gescam!! 'n Ou uit Johannesburg het 'n fiets by my "gekoop" op gumtree. (dit was die eerste teken van 'n scam, want ek het in Kaapstad Gumtree geadverteer) Onthou, as 'n ding nie vir jou reg voel nie, moet dit nie doen nie, want dan is daar iets nie lekker nie!! Hy het nie veel geworry oor courier koste nie (teken nr 2) en hy het nie veel oor die fiets uitgevra nie - OK, ek weet, ek kan nou nog nie glo ek was so stupid om daarvoor te val nie, maar na die tyd "click" mens eers! Die fiets is met 'n false "proof of payment" gestuur na hom toe in Johannesburg - gelukkig kon ek die aflewering stop en het dit laat terugstuur toe ek besef dis 'n scam. Almal is nie so gelukkig nie!! Het nooit gedink iemand sal 'n fiets wil steel nie, maar ek was verkeerd. Kyk uit vir hulle!! Van nou af moet die bank self vir my 'n "proof of payment" stuur as ek iets verkoop!!

    Attakwas 2012

    Ok, after reading everybodys posts, I am in two minds about this race... I want to do it so badly, but will I be fit enough in 10 weeks time?? I did the Transbaviaans in August and then after that I didn't do much, just a 2-3 hours a week... (I am very furious with myself for doing that and not keeping my so called "fittnes") Anyway, you guys who have done the Atta - what do you think, will I be able to do it when I stick to a heavy training program or not?? And does anybody have a program like that I can use? Thanks all! And good luck!

  19. Dankie Musashi!! Ons wil darem net vir ons "bacup" laat weet ons leef nog en ons is darem nog op pad (hopelik) Dankie vir die aansporing - ek hoop regtig ek maak dit! Twee van ons spanlede het die TB al 2 keer gedoen, en hulle het dieselfde gese. Ons gaan dit maar net rustig vat. Sien nogals uit na die hele affere! Nog 'n vraagie aan die ander vroue deelnemers - Watter broeke is vir julle die gemaklikste vir so 'n lang tyd in die saal? Ek sukkel nog so bietjie met daardie saak as julle weet wat ek bedoel...
  20. Ons het Saterdag 'n tawwe 140kms gedoen - oefening vir die Baviaans - en ooooeeee alla, nou is ek eers op my senuwees!! Ek soek aanmoediging mense!! Eintlik wat ek wou vra is of iemand dalk weet waar daar orals selfoon opvangs is, en of 'n mens iewers met jou "backup" in verbinding kan tree? Dankie almal! En lekker oefen!!
