    Ewep Crash

EWEP - sorry to hear about your crash. It's amazing to think that at the very time you were going through your ordeal R2D2 and I were admiring the pictures you had posted of the bike. Hope you can get sorted soon - I know it must be hard on you having one bike stolen and then one broken. And to Delgado good on you mate for helping out. That's why I ride with you guys - I know the Vomit Comet is always waiting in the wings to transport riders in distress (Muxman included)

  3. I've tried a number of the LBS listed in this post and have had varying service levels - I think they give better service to people with more expensive bikes! One LBS I've been impressed with has been Dunkeld Cycles. BTW - Why is it that when one has new tires fitted as part of a service the old ones are never returned unless you ask for them? I recently changed to tubeless tires on my MTB and the original tires that were on the bike were not returned (they only had done about 150 km) - I was in a rush to pick up the bike and only realised this about two days later.
  4. This would never have happened on a quality bike like a Trek or to Shimano components.
  5. I've been told to try the Gobi - but when I look at it I just think 'where's the padding or the springs (ala Brooks saddles)?"
  6. Just back from Desert Dash - i.e. 10 hrs plus on a MTB within 24 hrs period. So the rear is a bit sore. Any suggestions on a suitable saddle?
  7. Gotta love the fact that Solomons is right at the end. Wonder how many people forked out cash before getting to their strand. Interestingly is the fact that the Garmin as Sportsman's was about R800 cheaper than Solomons
  8. Hey Perot Co - It is a pity that you didn't contact us directly' date=' we would have arranged the test ride directly on behalf of the dealer. Next time, maybe. [/quote'] JDLAM - I'm now discovering that I should have contacted you directly. Seeing this post has brought back fond memories of researching the bike, having a look at it in the flesh, etc. The dealer I dealt with had led me to believe everything was in order - but when nothing transpired I wasn't I will have to beg - they either want my business or they don't. So I went elsewhere. I will pop past and have a look at the 24hr challenge - just in case I win the lotto.
  9. EWEP - these are really nice. Was quite far down the road in purchasing one except the planned test ride never materialised - i.e. dealer let me down. Now I have a Giant Trance - which I'm very happy with. Guess I'll never know.

  11. I'm just thinking how cool it would be to go down. EWAP are you challenging anyone to a sprint up this mother?

    29" MTB

Thanks for all the responses to my original post. I've managed to glean some valuable info. Just to clarify for any newcomers to the post - I'm interested in a 29" MTB as an alternative to the normal 26" - I'm NOT interested in the 29" single speed NOR in the '69' option (well not with/on a bike anyway). I also don't have money trees in my garder so a Titus is a bit beyond my budget - as mouthwatering as it is

    29" MTB

Just to clarify things: 29" = wheel size NOT frame size Entry level = approx. R 10K (which is what I've seen as the starting point) My interest is in what's available locally (SA - Gauteng even better).
