  1. Have to agree with Greatwhite, the LED option, although more $$$ is a better option. I've built a lot of 12v downlighter lights, and though they're simple to do, and are cheap, the battery weight and short run time is a big negative. LED is the way to go, and there are a few peeps on The Hub who will hook you up at a reasonable price.
  2. When I was racing school boys, I was around 1.65m and weighing 62kg's. Got sick after SA Champs, and lost 12kg's in a month... Looked like a hat stand wearing a t-shirt, never mind a coathanger. Now I've grown up and out - 1.96m and 87kg's, wiff blerrie skinny legs!
  3. CRC sells them too - tad pricey though for what it is... 180 ZAR's
  4. I think you're referring to the Samui Air Zound Cycling Horn - the one with the bottle that you can pump with your bike pump! I bought one from Mountain Equipment Co-op when I was in Canada, check out http://www.mec.ca/Products/product_detail.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524441777409&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302693017&bmUID=1278585731145
  5. So many bikes to be distracted by... I have some bits and pieces lying around (ok, taking up space in my old man's garage, and if I don't go and fetch them soon, they will be dumped...). Will do a bit of an inventory and post some pics, will be nice to polish up and put together some of the goodies, all from my school boy racing days...
  6. And if you have not bought a bike yet, have you considered the Merida Warp... Saw one at my LBS, it's beautiful, though I don't know how much $$$ and what the spec is like when compared to your other options. Check out http://www.merida.com.au/en_za/cms/751/en_za-triathlon-bike
  7. And make the Landy even more top heavy... That's why the sparewheel mounted option is probably better, but now we hear it could cause warpage... Don't have to worry about tickets, Defenders can't go fast enough to trigger the speed cameras...
  8. Lets get this thread back on track, and not down the Landy bashing track... What bike do you ride? Was thinking about my rack, and that it would not actually fit my bike. The top tube is not round, and the brackets are designed for round frames... I already needed to cut out the rubbers for the "oversized" tubes on my Giant. Now I ride a Merida and it has more square than round toptube, I would not be able to modify it to fit. Also, the suggestion from Moegoe is a good one, that rack allows easy access to the back door of the Landy, and as you have a SWB, we know access is a problem...
  9. Couldn't work out how to attach the image, but mine is one of the 3% no longer on the road, also didn't reach its destination though... Right rear blowout at 120km/h en route to Durban in top heavy Land Rover = rollover... So I "upgraded" to a Mitsubishi...
  10. P.S. The curvy part is to get around the spare wheel... The agent is in Midrand, not sure of the price for the replacement tow bar plate.
  11. I have a curvy Holdfast rack gathering dust in my garage. It fitted on my Land Rover Disco until I rolled it. It fits 2 bikes, and needs the bit that attaches to the towbar, as that went to the scrap yard with the Landy... Make me a reasonable offer, and it's yours. PM me if you're interested.
  12. If you're riding a 29 inch bike with 26 inch wheels then yes you can...
  13. Hey Cruzer, I'm also in the South, and work In Linbro Park, would love to ride once or twice a week. Have no route though other than over Fishers Hill and up through Edenvale. Bikes on the Gautrain would be great, ride to town, catch the train to Marlboro, ride the last bit to the office.
  14. You guys have kept me out of work for a long time, drooling over bikes that I used to drool over as a youngster racing Southern Transvall Schools. My 54cm RIH - Reynolds 531 track bike (with a mix of bits, including Campag) still hangs in my dad's garage, along with a 54cm Carlton track frame, and a few boxes full of bits and pieces. I don't think I'll find any rare jewels, as our racing budget was limited, but it will be a fun project to get the old "cr@p" out and cleaned up. Will post some pics of anything that may be of interest....
