  2. Thanks for the great feedback. I'm 1.70m. I don't know my inseam offhand, I'll provide it later when I get home.
  3. I'm looking at buying the Merida ONE-TWENTY CARBON 4000-D that is discounted on Cycle Factory. The bikes details: http://www.merida-bikes.com/en_za/bike/2011/9/MTB+Full+Suspension/ONE-TWENTY+Carbon+4000-D I have a couple of questions: 1. Does anyone own one of these bikes and have any feedback on it? 2. As I'm in JHB I would need to get the bike here, what are the possible ways to do this? 3. Is there anywhere in JHB that I can see the bike and even better sit on / ride it? Or who are the Merida distributors in JHB. I have checked the net and the Merida website but neither has really yielded anythings. Any help would be appreciated. Cheers
  4. check it out: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Critical_Mass
  5. Haha, did exactly the same thing. Took 5 minutes to figure out why I had fallen so spectacularly. For some crazy reason I have left them the wrong way around and have gotten used to them that way.
  6. I am doing the half for the first time. Starting unseeded from E but still hoping to break 2 hours. My mates reckon that will be tough because of the size of the group. I am looking forward to it nonetheless.
  7. What training did you do to improve your core strength?
  8. I'm hoping to go and see the bike this weekend - will let you know. Otherwise might take the Omnico route suggested by patches.
  9. Awesome thanks, I was looking at it earlier today and wondering about it.
  10. Is this the one you are referring to? Scott Voltage 0 Ltd Jump Bike (any Offers At All?) https://www.bikehub.co.za/index.php?app=hubmarket&do=view_item&item_id=22419
  11. Thanks for the advice guys, the DJ bike does sound like the best option for getting started. I checked out some YouTube vids on Jeff, just achieving a fraction of that skill would be awesome.
  12. Hi I currently do quite a lot of XC mountain biking and have been toying with the idea of getting into trials to improve my overall bike skills and technical ability. I have spent some time reading forums and looking at bikes but I am still pretty confused which route to go as I still know very little. So my question is which bike should I look to buy, a dirtjump or trials? And will it make that big a difference, which I go with? I am not looking to do any massive jumps or become Danny Macaskill but just to hone my balance, bike control, hopping, track standing, etc. Obviously, I am not wanting to spend a fortune as my mountain bike maintenance is steep enough Cheers
  13. Haha, how can anyone answer this, it is like asking, how far is too far to run? Surely it can only be judged by the individual attempting it?
  14. Hi, We ride quite often at Groenkloof and Fountains and had heard there was riding around the Monument but are yet to try it. Where is the entrance and the start of the trails (coming from JHB)? Cheers
  15. as you are in jhb, you should go check out westdene cycles. they often have stock of older model bikes at good prices.
