  1. Big Shout out to the organisers of Tshwane Classic 2018 - 2 years in and it ticks many of the critical road racing boxes like: 1. Cost - with prices going up for road races it was awesome to see this one nice and affordable. 2. Route - the new way out to the freeway was a great improvement - 3. Safety - full road closures is a huge win (only 3 other road races i know do that) 4. Finish - bolting up freedom hill to the finish line nice and tough for those that are still left. 5. Marshalling - top draw ensuring safe and fair racing within each group. In time this could rival the others - thank you Tshwane - what an absolute blast
  2. Hi Guys, I realize this is an old post but I came across it when I had the same problem on my Edge 500 this week. Turned out not to be a virus, hardware or a software problem but rather a very simple case of deleted files remaining in the Garmin Edge's ".Trashes" folder. Turns out that if you are using a MAC and you use Finder (File Manager) to delete your activities you need to make sure that you empty the Trash folder on your MAC too whilst your Garmin is still connected. If you dont the files remain hidden but not deleted - they are simply moved to the".Trashes" folder on your Edge.
  3. Lol But If they do manage to keep it at those price levels it will be seriously impressive. VAT alone is 14% - an extra 6% for shipping etc sounds reasonable for local support and warrantees
  4. The coolthing about all the Shimano cranks are that they are compatible with each other. ie the 105 10speed crank arm will work perfectly with the new Dura Ace 9000 11 speed crank and it will save you R2500.
  5. That would imply a 20% increase over US retail pricing - not as harsh as the UK's 40% difference.
  6. very cool DJPak. Have you found it to give consistent power readings?
  7. This is a few of their most popular units in the range and their prices in the US. Stages Power meter - Dura-Ace track, 7900 and 9000 $899.99 Stages Power Meter - Ultegra 6700, 6750 and 6800 $799.99 Stages Power meter - 105 $699.99 Stages Power Meter - FSA Energy $699.99 Stages Power meter - Rival $699.99 (GXP version) Stages Power meter - XTR M980 or M985 $899.99 Stages Power meter - XT M780/785 $799.99 Stages Power meter - X9 $699.99 Not sure of pricing in SA but in the UK the units sell for 40% more than in the US. Hope that wont be the case here.
  8. So its happened. Stages has done a deal to start supplying into the SA market. Omnico to distribute Stages power meters in Southern Africa | Bicycle Retailer and Industry News -http://www.bicycleretailer.com/international/2014/07/23/omnico-distribute-stages-power-meters-southern-africa#.U9IT8aBBsm9 They were fairly low key until they signed up with Team Sky and now there is a 3 to 5 week waiting list if you want 1 in the US. Pros: 1. Super light - 20g. 2. Simple to install and switch between bikes. 3. Claim 2% accuracy as per powertap and Quarq etc.. 4. Auto temperature correction and callibration. Cons: 1. Only avaiable for alloy cranks not carbon so no Campy compatibility. 2. Left leg only so if you have a real unbalanced profile between left and right legs it must give innacurate readings - although Stages claim that tests have shown this to be negligible. 3. Going to be great to see another power meter supplier in SA - lets hope their pricing is in line with the US options.
  9. Most of us ride many races every year. The good ones stand out very clearly. Pointing out the differences is the only way that responsible organisers and credible sponsors like ASG and Bestmed can become aware of them and decide whether or not to improve their offering. When riders simply shrug their shoulders and resign themselves to the status quos they dont gives organisers an opportunity to consider changes.
  10. Please post to this forum if you see Racetec results out
  11. Agreed - and why persist with those useless medals - does anyone actually keep them???
