  1. Yeah, write off those two at your peril. 'Berto, Valverde, Rodriguez, three of the worlds greatest.
  2. No, I wouldn't write Quintana off just yet for a possible top five, maybe even a podium, but top step is gonna be difficult with such a strong field as this. 'Berto is unlikely to lose minutes to Quintana on any mountain top finish where it essentially will matter now. I think a lot will depend on how Movistar see the situation, if they switch allegiances to Valverde I am pretty sure he will podium, but if they start to try and pull Quniana back into contention I think Valverde may have to sacrifice a very likely podium.............!. Not sure they will gamble on that, my feeling is they will look for a stage win for Nairo and try keep Valverde on the podium.
  3. 'Berto's back boys! How do ya like them apples.!
  4. Tony is almost a guaranteed bet but I dont think Froome is going that well, maybe the fall, maybe he just hasnt recovered, but he struggled on the slope yesterday and by all accounts its a mild one. I think 'Berto and Quintana will more than hold their own against Froome today, at this level 28 seconds is a long time to make up.
  5. Yeah, Yeah,...I'll bet Movistar and Saxo will be moved to complacency by that nugget.! ....but then again when your GC rider is struggling and your team is not able to control the peleton anymore like they used to......what else can you say.?
  6. Yeah, in the GC race for sure. 'Berto can more than hold his own in the ITT and with just 2 or 3 seconds between him and red......I recon he stands a pretty good chance of going out the race leader today.
  7. To be honest Pardilla looks in great shape and he has been right up there every stage so far.
  8. 'Berto looked quite good to be honest, so did Froome, maybe they came out of their injuries quicker and in better shape than expected? ..but what can you say about Valverde except "Estupendo, Estupendo! ".. a real competitor!. I wouldn't worry too much about Quintana yet, a little short for him to get up a head of steam, it suited Valverde and he made good. Movistar is sitting really pretty right now.
  9. Terrible,.... I also remember clearly the mountain biker who was shot in the neck on Witkoppen road in broad daylight some time back. He survived, but barely, had he not been with someone he would be dead. There are most likely many others.
  10. Good heavens, how do you give a 9 year old an Uzi and expect her to control it? Anyway, I often used to carry a 6.35 in a holster in my back pocket. A few of my mates did the same. I know of a police woman who does likewise. Nothing special about it. Probably more folk than you know are doing it already, they just dont tell you.
  11. Sure, I am just joking, he is getting a bit long in the tooth now, but still a great competitor. Nothing against Cadel.
  12. Uran I can understand, but Cuddles...........you are joking right.?
  13. Hmm, my left elbow tells me Froome will try win today and take an early stage. Its not a big mountain and all the main GC contenders should manage it easily but its the early psychological points everyone will be looking for. I think Movistar however will be wise to this though and are going to set a cracking pace which will stop any attack and shield Quintana. Should be interesting. Not sure what 'Berto will do, he showed yesterday he is present and correct and forget about him at your peril, but to be honest I dont think he will be a threat to the overall GC. Uran will need to be wide awake, but without a strong team like Movistar to defend him he may find himself a bit lonely.
  14. Hmm, another day for John Degenkolb? Hill is too small and most of the sprinters here are climbing fairly well so I cant see them getting shelled, Sky tried to reduce the pack yesterday but of all the real sprinters they only got rid of Bouhanni, which was a bit of a surprise as he generally does climb well, but again the heat may be an issue.
  15. I would like to see Gilbert get a win, its been a bit of a dry spell but I dont think the cat 2 climb near the end will shell too many of the sprinters, I am thinking the profile may suit someone like John Degenkolb, but Bouhanni is climbing quite well and if he gets over in the bunch!....the heat may play a part but for me Sagan hasn't been looking too inspiring.
  16. Sagan looked a bit off the pace today, maybe the heat, but he didn't look to me as if he was in a position to contest the win.
  17. So Berto is still up there pushing hard and been competitive even against apparent Doctors orders! Not sure what to think about that, one bad fall and he could potentially be ruined career wise, but hell, I gotta like the great attitude. Missed the first two stages but today was quite exciting, that little climb to the finish was a killer, but I think the heat is going to take its toll over the next few days and could change the race completely, especially if some of the top guys find it hard to cope with.
  18. Did you take that Gummi.? It looks to me like a shot from the old port in Marseilles looking up to the Notre-dame de la Garde Church.? Lovely photo. I have spent many Sundays at the Notre-Dame de la Garde mass, its a beautiful church and you can see out over almost the whole of Marseille and the surrounding Med. Afterwards I always like to wonder around the old port, exactly where the photo was taken, and on Sundays they have a wonderful fresh fish market, the fishermen bring their boats up to the dock side and offload their mornings catch which is sold. Behind that row of apartments on the dock side is an open square where there is always some activity and in the very corner is a steak restaurant where the owner even has South African wines on the menu, last time I had a wonderful bottle of Alto Rouge with my steak, the wine expensive by SA standards but not for the Frenchies, he says the guests love it, one of his better sellers. His steaks are great as well, cooked right in front of you over a huge open pit with a proper wood fire, no gas cooking here, on Sundays they have a side of beef cooking over the fire and you can have as much as you like, you just go carve it off. Marseille is a wonderful city, brings back lots of memories.
  19. Thats really nice, I would certainly hold onto it, looks in great condition too. I had a CB750 in 1978, bought it brand new from Honda in JHB for about 2k at the time, crazy innit,.... but what a magnificent bike it was and I looked after it like a baby. When I eventually sold it the first guy who saw it bought it, right there and then and I actually got more than I paid for it. I am guessing if you did sell it your would too, but I would keep it just as it is for sure.
  20. 42k is not bad, it looks in good shape. I would investigate it. I assume the low mileage is after an engine rebuild.? Surely it couldn't have just sat around.?
  21. Yes, probably, certainly 'Berto wont be in podium condition after such an injury. Personally I cant see Quintana losing unless he just implodes or sustains an injury, the course profile should suit him to a T and with guys like 'Berto and Froome coming back from injury and Valverde possibly still a little mentally tired he really has little competition. Uran, to me, is his only concern, and I dont think Uran is going to catch him on some of the really steep climbs.
  22. Hello Swiss Dunno, Just something about him that rubs me up wrong.
