Seeing this post has brought back fond memories of researching the bike, having a look at it in the flesh, etc. The dealer I dealt with had led me to believe everything was in order - but when nothing transpired I wasn't I will have to beg - they either want my business or they don't. So I went elsewhere. I will pop past and have a look at the 24hr challenge - just in case I win the lotto. Yes, for the future, you know not too hesitate to contact us. We are quite happy to ride with potential customers. Would you mind, sending me the dealer's name via a pm. It is always interesting. Just don't want to broadcast it.

BigBen - It does seems as though there is an issue with a batch of Firex cranks. My best advice is contact your bike shop, and ask them to get in touch with the local truvativ distributor. I think they might swop them under warranty.
