  1. Here is the bike. META 4.3 FRAME : META 4<?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> SHOCK : ROCK SHOX BAR 2.1 (w/rebound) FORK : ROCK SHOX RECON 327 SOLO AIR 100mm (w/rebound) STEM : COMMENCAL 70mm (S/M) ? 90mm (L/XL) HANDLEBARS : COMMENCAL MEDIUM/62 6061 GRIPS : COMMENCAL KRATON BRAKES : AVID JIUCY 3 160MM SHIFTERS : SRAM TRIGGER SX5 3x9 FRONT DERAILLEUR : SHIMANO DEORE REAR DERAILLEUR : SRAM X7 CRANKSET : TRUVATIV FIREX w/GIGA X PIPE SEATPOST : COMMENCAL 6061 SADDLE : SDG BEL AIR RIMS: WTB SX24 32h HUBS : COMMENCAL DISC 32h TIRES : KENDA KARMA 26x2.00 We have three models for the Meta 4, allowing you to find the bike within your budget. More importantly, you get the same frame throughout the range, with a logical step down in components, with each model. The other bikes are Meta 4.1, Meta 4.2. The bike is equipped with our "contact system" suspension design. This ensures that they will both climb like mountain goats with minimal bobbing, and plenty of traction. It is a progressive suspension design, so basically, it is soft at the bottom of the travel, soaking up corrugations as you are riding on the trail, but the bigger the travel, the stiffer the suspension becomes. In effect, if the rear shock is set for your weight, then you cannot bottom out your suspension. The bike also come with our "PST" design (Perfect Size Tubing), where the outside diameter of the tubing on our Large and XLarge bikes, is bigger than on the small and medium. This allows us to fit a 31.6 sized seat post, while the small and medium bikes have a 27.2. This makes the Large and XLarge bikes safer for the bigger riders, without compromising frame weight.
  2. Hey, Mampara. Thanks for the report. Happy to hear that you enjoyed the bike.
  3. Recommended Retail Incl. VAT Frame only without rear shock - R 8 799.00 Frame with Fox RP23 - R 11 999.00
  4. How about a limited edition COMMENCAL Meta 4 TEAM frame? We've only rought 50 in the country.
  5. I agree. Mountain biking is an outdoor sport, and riders must look after the environment. Also, it's not because it is a race that someone will pick up after you. Guys with this kind of attitude should be fined.
  6. Damn, that price is not bad and with a bit of tinkering you can get it below 10kg. JDLAM, I ride a 19inch HT. About 580-595mm top tube. Can you PM me your contact number please. Not bad for an aluminium frame, hey. the Flame also has the perfect size tubing feature. Outside diameter of the tubes are bigger on Large and Xtra large. Thereby, small and medium use 27.2 seat post and Large and Xlarge use 31.6, to cater for the bigger guys. Ok, just Pmed you. Just check, as I am not sure if I did it right. 1st time.
  7. That sounds like a plan. Let's talk to the guys.
  8. Can just imagine that picture alone convincing about another 5000 Europeans to come mtb'ing in RSA... Michh and COMMENCAL are trying to promote tourism for South Africa.
  9. Thanks everyone, Hey dirt rider, here is a pic of Marais and Rynard with their hardtails. That was at the Akkedis.
  10. After their victory at the Akkedis dirty double, Team COMMENCAL racing wins the Urban assault. Marais Dekker and Rynard Van Hoven of Team COMMENCAL racing scored a brilliant 1st and 2nd overall, on their Flame hardtails. Well done guys!!! A fantastic result.
  11. thanks cruxpearl. That's great. I also have an 85 CBT Italia frame, that I would like to redo. Have been seraching the net for photos and catalogues. but not much info. Do you know, if there is someone that can restore the scratches on cycling parts? I'd like to have my C record cranks redone. I have read somewhere, that they were clearcoated. Thanks again.
  12. Hey cruxpearl, beautiful bikes. did cycleart redo the decals for you or did you buy them. I would like to redo my tommasini super prestige (C record with delta brakes), but can't find decals.
  13. hi Rob, For a lady starting out in Mtb, I would not consider a hardtail. Go for an entry level dual suspension. It will increase her ability over technical sections, make her more confident and make the whole experience much more enjoyable. cheers, Jean-Luc
  14. [based in Gauteng, I ride the spruit often with JL (he's the unofficial puncture king! 3 pfffftssss in one ride hahaha.)] Hey Rude, Watch it. I don't puncture often, but when I do it, I do a good job of it. We are riding on the spruit, tomorrow. Wanna join? 8am paulshof M&B.
  15. For anyone interested. It seems the recommended retail is around R 750. I got the information from DAD in Centurion.
  16. I Built a bike in 1985 with a brown rolls saddle. but from memory, it had been already around since the late seventies.
  17. hi squirt, contact Manny on +27825519497, he is the importer of selle san marco. I believe the Rolls is available on special order. had one in the past, superb saddle. very comfortable. cheers, Jean-Luc
  18. Yes, you are right. Anybody can give a sale speech, on how well their system works. As they say the proof is in the pudding, and the best way is to test the bike, to get a feel for it.
  19. Hi Miss V, We are doing a slow ride from the paulshof mugg and bean, on the spruit on saturday morning. We will be going up to greenside, and back. About 40 Kms. We will meet at 8am. You are welcome to join us. There will be about six of us. Michh can vouch for us, I think. Jean-luc
