  1. I agree white looks great... But black and bronze, also very nice..
  2. All Commencal dual suspension bikes feature highly in overseas test rating. The Meta 5.5 number, which is the 5.5" travel bike, was voted "Bike of the year" in its category by What Mountain bike magazine and the Meta 4 range achieved full marks and gold crown award. Have a look at the following link : http://www.mtbr.com/reviews/manufacturers/8650
  3. Hi Slowpoke, Just remember that MichH rides a Meta 5.5 which is a 5.5" travel bike more suited towards trail/freeride, but definitely useable in a XC environment. The Meta 5.5 is actually one of the lightest bikes in its category.
  4. [ But if I can stretch my budget I will probably get this: Thanks for clearing that out. The Canaam is well specced for its price. The bike above is on the water and will be available next month. But not at the 07 price, I am afraid.
  5. Was quite keen on the Commencal but the spec seems quite a bit lower than on similar priced in the market. Hi Racman, I would be interested to know which bikes you compared the meta 4 to, as in my opinion, our specs and the current pricing on our 07 bikes are very competitive. Thanks.
  6. If you are in Pta, take it to Hotspot cycles. They have parts for repair and even some new and second hand older parts for 8 speed and 9 speed ergos.
  7. Anticlimb, your bike came out beautifully. What components did you use?
  8. Anticlimb. There is no difference in the frame. It is exactly the same. Meta 4.1 is our top of the range 4" travel bike, while you have the team frame.
  9. Not sure if this is going to come out properly. Can email it if you want.
  10. Guys, stop it. You are making me blush. . BUT, thanks. Jchain. Glad that you are happy with our service and the bike. That frame is actually a limited edition. Only 50 in the country, so you should not see many other riders with it. Depending where you are staying, we organise some regular COMMENCAL rides in the JHB, PTA area. You are welcome to join us. Pop me an email on info@commencal.co.za, if you are keen. Happy trails.
  11. Just a small correction. The meta 4 is more suited with its four inches of travel to XC, Sani to sea or epic type of races. The relaxed head angle makes it a great handling bike. It is a bike that you can ride on all day. Very forgiving on the body. The Meta 5.5 on the other hand is more suited for trail riding. It is however a very versatile bike, that climbs very well with a lot of traction. It is suitable for someone who wants a bike that he can race on (This is not for race snakes), but that he can also take down some serious technical stuff, including taking a few jumps. It is a lot of fun, basically.
  12. The Meta 4.2 used to retail for R 20 599.00. It is now on special while stock last. You will struggle to find a better specced bike with this kind of performance for that money (R 16 grand). But I am biaised, as we import them . Ask your dealer for a demo bike.
  13. Thanks Slick, Looks like their specs are wrong.
  14. Hi Racer X, The hubs are disc compatible. The GT Avalanche pro is a Full LX groupset (see specs below), while the supernormal comes with an LX/X9 (XT level) package. The Fox F100 fitted on the Supernormal would compare with the Rockshox SID Race, instead of the REBA range which is more entry level than the SID. So I would rate the fork better on the supernormal. "Fluid formed lightweight aluminium frame Rock Shock Recon 351 Air, 100 mm of travel with rebound, compression and lockout Full 07 Shimano LX groupset with hydraulic disc brakes Truvativ Stylo Team cranks WTB SpeedDisc rims with LX hubs Kenda Nevegal 2.1 tyres with DTC compound for better traction SDG Bel Air saddle" What a lot of people tend to do, is forget about the number one component in a bike, which is the frame. Any manufacturer can supply Sram or Shimano, what makes the difference between bikes is the frame design (Note that I am not taking a swipe at GT, here, just a general comment). This is where the Supernormal is strong, as it shares its design with our top of the range hardtail, making it a very quick and responsive bike, while still being comfortable, thanks to our wishbone design at the back. It is a pleasure for single track. But don't take my word for it, I invite you to come and demo the bike.
  15. Have a look a the COMMENCAL Supernormal. It is on special. Used to retail for R 12 999.00, it is now R 11 600.00
  16. hey michH, that's cool. You have a pic to post? was nice to meet your hubbie as well. what's your plan for the weekend? we are riding at groenkloof, saturday. wanna join?
  17. Good, no evidence.
  18. JLDAM

    Ouch

A full face helmet would, definitely, have come in handy..... Body armour too....
  19. I see that. Thanks. Will consider lending you a demo bike again.
