  7. we're doing a ride on this route tomorrow, if anyone is keen to join. 4:40: meet at total on corner of leslie / douglas. 5:00: caltex near leslie on witkoppen, and then head down into lonehill, bit of tar, bit of pathways. usually back in fourways by 5:45 for the ride home (back to north riding). not a fast-paced ride.
  8. if extra validation is needed on bike washing skills, I will be kind enough to provide mine for demonstrative cleaning purposes.
  9. for cycling the edge500 does it. not sure about the multisport / running ones
  10. from what i've heard, polar is good. I went for Garmin edge (the older 305) with HRM, GPS & cadence, which I picked up here via the classifieds (e.g. https://www.bikehub.co.za/classifieds/43666-computer-with-gps-hrm-and-cadencespeed/ ) the local brand bryton is more competitively priced, but heard they can be a bit glitchy or give battery issues (read through the forums, there's a lot of discussion on this topic already). and not sure about support either.
  11. I hear skeerpoort is quite peaceful. nice trails there too.
  12. *makes mental note to protect my address* almost sounds stalkerish. Sounds like a plan, I'm definitely not init to winnit, just for a lekker ride and have some fun...
  13. damn, not sure if I'm gonna make this one from original 7 mates who were keen down to me + 1, and don't think we are gonna htfu and enter 2-person team. anyone keen on joining to make up 4, or looking for another person or 2 (in open category)?
  14. k, cool, will be there by 4:35ish if i am joining, though not looking like I'll make it
  15. are you guys crossing william nicol, and do you head back from paulshof side along the same route? Or what would be the best place to join up if i leave sandton at 4:30? thinking of joining in from work if time allows and still need to collect my car to drive home (which ironically is close to paulshof).
  16. *click* subscribed china. I hope it doesn't include smelly rides like the spruit, its not really technical enough, bru (well at least not on my 29er).
  17. so wear and tear on brake pads is generally attributed to the manufacturer, and not to the rider / riding style? not that im trying to say divernick brakes less than jcza or anything.
  18. quick question about the mixed relay category: 2 guys, 2 girls, or can it be 3:1 ?
  19. From our trip to Mankele near Nelspruit 2 months ago.
  20. I am not regretting bailing on this one, I think i was one of the first headed back to my car. Good to meet a few of you, even though briefly. Buffet breakfast @ chef and the fat man was great! Here's the comparison: Breakfast: No takeaways. CQ: No takeaways (goodie bag). Breakfast: No medal. CQ: No medal Breakfast: R60. CQ: R180 Breakfast: Clean, working bike. CQ: derailleurs / brakes / frames to be replaced, once 30kg of mud has been removed. Was a nice drive out though, and at least I have my race number as a token of the intent. Thanks to Karma and PieterG for offering to assist, used the time Saturday morning to go through to Linden and get everything sorted properly. Hope Omni Motion has better conditions this weekend.
  21. thanks pieter
  22. Shot karma. I have a tube packed, maybe I should just put that in this eve to be safe.
