  6. I do this at least twice a week. From bryanston near the campus to Kenmore road, mtb along the spruit with a handful of options. Drop me a pm and will we can arrange details *Edit* route ranges from 11km to 20 odd.
  7. This happened to me last weekend... 20 minutes into the ride. comments along the lines of "are you sick oke" as riders moved from the back of the group past me. there's a big fat kid that ate too much cake inside of me that still finds toilet humour amusing
  8. i should also apologise. I asked to join a group of mtb'ers in full lycra a few weeks back, wearing baggies and a t-shirt instead of relevant apparel. there was some hesitation in allowing me to join, and i soon found out why. it seems that baggies give you extra balance while navigating technical bits - the lycra clad people had to walk the tech bits which i rolled over. sorry *edit* to clarify: the other mtb'ers were in full lycra and i wasn't.
  9. you thought you were having a kuk day....
  10. or you could.... bungeeeeeeeee
  11. Lots of cough syrup and some quality time for you and the missus?
  12. not knowing what your usual is, here's some stuff that we do. Free'ish stuff (no cover charge) - picnic @ emmerentia or delta park. frisbee's, bats, balls, kites and bikes are packed - braai at home - ride around delta pa - clean the fishtank / wash the dogs - braai Not free stuff - ice skating - go karting - botanical gardens (walter sisulu) - Monte bird park. - cable cars at harties (and there's an elephant park + monkey park out there too)
  13. Also seeing this. After syncing the Garmin record (edit: i.e. directly uploading GPX on strava site) to Strava, and comparing the 2 (in strava), this is what I have for the MM: Edge: 74.7km, 1813m elev, 5h16 moving time S3: 76km (the "correct" distance as per race briefing), 1,594m ("correct" as per website), moving time 5h23 (only??? felt like lifetimes). My avg speed came out at the same, "elapsed time" had a 4 minute difference due to different stopping times, so those all align. Garmin reckons 200m elev over 1.3km and 7 minutes less moving time... Garmin Edge 305 attached to stem, S3 in the saddle bag, for what its worth.
  14. thats right... milk it...
  15. the screw that attaches my light to the handlebar clamp came loose on my ride home yesterday. after only riding with it for 6 months, I think Extreme Lights owes me a full replacement unit.
  16. thanks, dupe post though. https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/126239-update-on-benoni-kempton-bike-hijack-and-rape/
  17. ya, heard of a bike jacking on the road from top of cedar to northerns (heronbridge area), as well as Spruit near scout hall and river crossing just after william nicol.
  18. maybe a better fred title would be "olympic gold rower rocks the boat at trailseeker."
  19. jinne.... hec......tic....
  20. Very good read, thanks. I did laaik this: ... that both have their place in riding, specifically I believe that flats make you better and that clipless can make you faster... Been riding clipless for 8 months and enjoy it because i feel i get a bit of extra power on pull-ups and also find that alternating between predominantly down to predominantly up pedalling is great for relieving leg cramps or pins and needles in my feet.
  21. thanks
  22. hi, wondering if anyone's had an edge305 turn off on them? riding the monster on saturday, it happened 4 or 5 times. From what I could tell, it seemed to mostly turn off after quick descents down bumpy sections, so possibly related to vibrations... any self-service I can try, should I send it in for repairs, or upgrade time?
