  1. Is it just me or are the photos missing? Our network does strange things sometimes.

    Damn Rules

That's ridiculous! MTB rules can be 2 lines: 1. Have fun. 2. Don't get killed. Hog you are my hero............only started cycling 18 months ago (MTB 4 months ago) and I didnt know about Rule 2. I will try and be careful.
  3. Good suggestion. Of course you just know that some guy is going to ask for the official calibration certificate if that scale says 6.795kg... And then the prizegiving will start even later. And dont forget that to really do it properley it should be in a glass enclosure at 20 C at 1013 mb!
  4. Read between the lines: Cheating is OK if it is inconvenient to prevent!! No wonder cyclists can be such scaly f*cks. I could get my bike under 6.8 if I wanted to, but I don't. Why? Because it is cheating, and CHEATING IS NOT OK! Not in my book, anyway. When I got dropped on Sunday, one of the okes with whom I was trying to chase back (I know who he is, also usually rides a bike which is well under 6.8kg) said 'let's use the cars'. No man! Let's not. If we aren't strong enough to stay in the group, well, train some more or get used to it. Pity that you are the exception rather than the rule!! Still cycling cannot produce the quality of bullsh1tters found in ameteur golf competitions!!! You certainly have my respect. As a real novice in the game sinply wanting to get out there and keep reasonably fit and have some fun, I have seen things at the back that have made me want to through up as even the friggen back markers cheat............and I also have vowed that I never will, just as I made that vow in my youth as a fairly competitive runner. Never have and never will.
  5. Need to keep sane in this job of mine, so thanks for the help.
  6. Thanks HR knew I wasnt going crazy and that I had seen it before. Anyway good to hear from you again.
  7. Can"t remember who it was but the link was posted by someone last week sometime on another thread.....think it was called Paralympic reults or close to that. makes for interesting reading tho.
  8. Trying to tell us he's confused... Whew! I feel much safer now..................but then on the other hand Anton would never come to the Eastern Cape anyway would he? Spud2008-09-16 02:08:15
  9. Fandacious you could be in deep poo! I think Anton may just be Muntu and he is trying to tell us something!!!
  10. You think that once he gets to page 30 Nando's will contact him to make an add' date=' Hey come try our Illegaly Hot and Spicy Nando's Chicken.[/quote']
  11. Congrats to you both Spidey, trust that you guys will be blessed and that you have already bought the little one a Schwinn.
  12. Thats it I'm outa here, see you all tomorrow!
  13. You were There??? Yep. Elites did 18 laps of Klapperkop (10km per lap). I raced Juniors. We only had to do 10 laps. Were you there too? Geez! Sean I was only in matric then!! You are really old!
  14. Imagine a skinny Vernon Koekemoer. So if he ties a knot in his cycling top does he use the back pockets? and that would explain the chirps about the helmet!
  15. Tested Positive for doping... was banned' date=' then tested positive after his ban expired again, and was banned for life... then someone at sacf lifted his lifetime ban... wtf???? I believe he was also banned (for life) from Car racing, not sure if it was cars or radio control cars... for... guess??? cheating... engine outside rule specification.. something like that!!!! So it seems it's somewhat of an inbred thing[/quote'] Ya... His old man used to hide in the bushes to miss out laps during circuit races in Rhodesia .... then suddenly reappear in the bunch to take a place in the sprint.... That old saying of "Your kids are a reflection of the parent" comes to mind.
  16. The sad thing is that he does'nt believe what he did is wrong (Said to me , but I did'nt follow the bus to the finish) or unethical, rider like this should stick to open where their ar'nt really any rules, and we wheelsuck from the start to the finish. What concerns me even more though is the number of riders that got dropped on the first bump going up to the 4way stop at the top to the lion park, you know its gonna be a long day when you stand on the line, you look at the rider next to you, you notice that his saddle bag is bigger than your wife's handbag and he has a gel cover on his saddle. PLEASE CSA , lets have some control over who is allowed to enter as a licensed rider. and that is a whole new thread mate! I entered for the Macro in PE and was forced to start with licensed riders with my friggen Cyclosport license which we were told we have to have in order to ride. So there I was 53 year old been riding for 18 months and lost the bunch IN THE DEAD ZONE!!!! Surely sanity should prevail and I should have been with the open riders..........and yes I did spend 30 minutes at registration trying to explain to the "tanie" that I am NOT a licensed rider.
  17. And if he was banned for life...............how come is racing and eligible to receive prize money? Or was his ban purely as a pro rider if that is what he was?
  18. Which one would hee be? not that I will ever recognise him from the photo!
  19. Is it possible to get the prize money back or is that a waste of time...........doesnt sound like the sort of guy you want to invite over for a braai!
  20. Really sad to hear stories like this. It is unfortunately in a lot of sports and I recall seeing one of my team mates come past in the passenger seat at about 40 odd km during the Bloem Thabanchu road race (running) many years ago, mid eighties as I recall. We didnt realise what he had done when we were called up for the third team prize (the only time I ever went up) when he was called up as part of the winning team.................The dumbnut had got out at about 60km and then criused in for the last 4km in 16th place. We had to reject the prize even though we still had a runner behind us who would have given us enough to still take it. He was banned for life from further competion and we kicked him out of the club. It also happened to be my only top 20 finish in a big event EVEEEEEEEER!
