  1. Ok now Marc is in trouble!!
  2. Yip, i think this is a step in the right direction. Another bike shop that is always willing to try is Crown Cycles and IMO they have one of the best and honest mechanics (Marc) in Cape Town.
  3. Would like to start by saying that I am a Chainreaction Cycles Whore. I had 2 items in my CRC basket which I was going to purchase. I dropped by Bridge cycles to pick up some goodies. I asked Marc (Bridge staff) if he could match CRC on the 2 items on my wish list. He made a call and he actually bettered CRC price. Marc asked me to come to him first before I import anything and he will try his best to match or even better the deal. This do does not mean he can always do it but depending on the price difference I will make my decision as to where I will purchase the goodies. Well, I am super chuffed with this arrangement. I would like nothing more than to keep it local.
  4. They will not import the 2013 mavic crossmax SX because the SX does not sell well. SX is an AM wheel so I assume they feel the same way about stocking the Reign. The least they can do is let CRC ship directly to us the Items that our local suppliers refuse to stock.
  5. Do you drive a X5?
  6. AM is not a money maker.
  7. Have to do the same with Mavic at least for the 2013 goodies on CRC.
  8. With enough thieving you can buy an X5.
  9. Sandy is long gone.
  10. quickest I ever received goods from CRC was under 2 weeks.
  11. Yah.. but try getting a certain mavic wheel. Got the T-Shirt! Now i have to go via chainreaction via a cuz that lives in the UK. Eish.
  12. This is true for the majority of SA suppliers.
  13. YA..Good old SA suppliers. Its a pity, I loves spez bikes. My latest purchase was between a stumpjumber and an Ibis but after my warranty not going as smooth as I would have liked from Specialized I got me an Ibis SL-R (Extremely happy with my purchase). Had a warranty claim for a paint defect on a seat stay. They were going to replace it under warranty with a plain black stay unlike my original one which had decals to match the rest of the bike. I had to throw my toys and what do you know, I am sent a matching seat stay (its a 2010 frame purchased April this year). Why was it even necessary for me to go through all that ****. Unfortunately the LBS had to be on the receiving end of my
  14. Share with fellow hubbers. PM me the Address..would love to for myself. Thanks!!
  15. You got my vote..Good Luck!
  16. Is it even legal to have an online store and not hold stock?
  17. http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Images/News/photos/25years/Images/letter.gif ow entering the twenty fifth year of trading, Chain Reaction Cycles are well known throughout the world shipping daily to every corner of the globe. The world's largest online bike store has grown through hard work, a strong family ethos and investment in stock, systems and most importantly people. Here's the story of how we came to be where we are today. It was in 1984 that George and Janice Watson made the decision to open a bike shop, which saw George leaving his job in the road service and embark on their journey into bicycle retailing and repair. Thoughts of worldwide success weren’t the main priority when, armed with just a £1500 bank loan, they set up Ballynure Cycles, in the small village of Ballynure in Northern Ireland.
  18. The clever ones
  19. You know the usual "pruchased stock on a weak rand" BS.
  20. Importers have to adapt but why should they, the bike shops are forced but to buy from them. I think bike shops need a CRC of their own. It is the local suppliers classic "you need me" attitude. They are happy to shaft you once a year for that emergency rear deraileur. Lets not forget that price fixing business that went down a while back. This is what us consumers have to live with. Even with a k@k exchange I saved R3000 (that is 3k towards my daughter birthday gift/party) on a groupset. Half the time the suppliers dont have stock of what you want. I would love to take my business to one of many shops I visit but unfortunately they can not compete. I dont mind a little above CRC prices but most of the time they cant even manage that.
  21. I know nothing about this bike. thanks to you I have some info on the rear hub. Any idea as to when this bike was manufactured? I have seen similar bikes on the net dating back to the late 50's early 60's.
  22. Is this retro or Vintage? http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x309/AhRO_bucket/20121114_084810.jpg
  23. Just got this. http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x309/AhRO_bucket/20121114_084810.jpg
