  5. This is true for the majority of SA suppliers.
  6. YA..Good old SA suppliers. Its a pity, I loves spez bikes. My latest purchase was between a stumpjumber and an Ibis but after my warranty not going as smooth as I would have liked from Specialized I got me an Ibis SL-R (Extremely happy with my purchase). Had a warranty claim for a paint defect on a seat stay. They were going to replace it under warranty with a plain black stay unlike my original one which had decals to match the rest of the bike. I had to throw my toys and what do you know, I am sent a matching seat stay (its a 2010 frame purchased April this year). Why was it even necessary for me to go through all that ****. Unfortunately the LBS had to be on the receiving end of my

  9. Is it even legal to have an online store and not hold stock?
  10. http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Images/News/photos/25years/Images/letter.gif ow entering the twenty fifth year of trading, Chain Reaction Cycles are well known throughout the world shipping daily to every corner of the globe. The world's largest online bike store has grown through hard work, a strong family ethos and investment in stock, systems and most importantly people. Here's the story of how we came to be where we are today. It was in 1984 that George and Janice Watson made the decision to open a bike shop, which saw George leaving his job in the road service and embark on their journey into bicycle retailing and repair. Thoughts of worldwide success weren’t the main priority when, armed with just a £1500 bank loan, they set up Ballynure Cycles, in the small village of Ballynure in Northern Ireland.
  11. The clever ones
  12. You know the usual "pruchased stock on a weak rand" BS.
  13. Importers have to adapt but why should they, the bike shops are forced but to buy from them. I think bike shops need a CRC of their own. It is the local suppliers classic "you need me" attitude. They are happy to shaft you once a year for that emergency rear deraileur. Lets not forget that price fixing business that went down a while back. This is what us consumers have to live with. Even with a k@k exchange I saved R3000 (that is 3k towards my daughter birthday gift/party) on a groupset. Half the time the suppliers dont have stock of what you want. I would love to take my business to one of many shops I visit but unfortunately they can not compete. I dont mind a little above CRC prices but most of the time they cant even manage that.
  14. I know nothing about this bike. thanks to you I have some info on the rear hub. Any idea as to when this bike was manufactured? I have seen similar bikes on the net dating back to the late 50's early 60's.
  15. Is this retro or Vintage? http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x309/AhRO_bucket/20121114_084810.jpg

  18. but weavng is fun!
  19. A 100k spez looks better than a 25k spez. Like A Merc AMG looks better than a standard Merc. A fox with Kashima coat just looks better than one without. I did Die Burger for the first time last year on a Tarmac S-Wroks (freaken SEXY machine). During the ride I joined a bunch. Pulling the bunch was a guy riding an old steel bike. The word in the bunch was that this guy had been pulling this bunch from the start (while they giggled like little Biatches) and they were all enjoying the free ride. I rode up to the front and when I finally met the guy all he was doing was riding his own ride and the riders behind decided that they are just going wheel suck. I tried to share the load with him but his pace was too fast for me to maintain throughout the ride. So I helped where I could. Where the story gets interesting is when the guy first runs out of water, no one offers him a sip and I hand him my bottle. Then he runs out of steam with about 20km to go. Everyone in the bunch drops him like hot cakes as if they racing for podium position. I stuck with him and pulled him till there was 5k’s to go, by then we had passed a water point and I knew he would be OK. I did not finish with the bunch and sacrificed a few minutes. Helping a fellow rider was more of a priority. Next time you in the starting chute. Chat to the old bra on the Dogma and do not be surprised when his eyes lights up just like yours do when you chat about the port you love. Back to the topic. Bikes are expensive, but if you a smart shopper you can have own top of the line for the fraction of the price. There are some fishing reels that sell for over 10k. And people buy them. A fishing Reel!! Are you going to catch more fish, hell NO! But hey, do we need ceramic hub bearings?
