  1. So I had a lapse in judgement… gonna sell my full suss and keep the Rapide, she is too pretty to sell, and hasn’t even touched the mountains yet.. anyone here run a 140mm? I have a freshly serviced Rockshox Revelation 140mm fork I wanna slap on, but worried as I want to also use her to train and cover some distance as it will be my only bike.. maybe worth a shorter travel fork instead?
  2. Howzit all! unfortunately I have to sell my Rapide due to unforeseen expenses. I have ridden her twice! Rapide Tigre Size M (Like new) | Hardtail Mountain Bikes | Bike Hub This bike has felt amazing, and I haven't even had the chance to truly run her in, only touched the tarmac, once from Royal Ascot to Blouberg, and then once to Melkbos.
  3. Managed to find an hour out of the weekend to test out the new addition to the stable
  4. Just pulled the trigger on the frame and fork combo.. can’t wait to take her out for a spin
  5. Nice arvo ride and break at the Blockhouse
  6. My first cycle on Chappies this morning
  7. Get an old Scooby Forester XT 😎can pick them up for a decent price, replacement parts and servicing is cheap with a devout following of enthusiasts to give you all the info you need. Plus.. plenty of HP to put a smile on your face, any tow or roof rack for bikes, enough boot space for your dirty crap. plus they are unstoppable in the sand/ mud.
  8. @WIPEOUT 1000 thanks! I was wondering about that, any equivalents available off the shelf in SA? i think a 120mm with an angleset would be a winner
  9. @Marcv thanks for the input! I'm definitely considering getting a 120mm fork, currently I'm happy with the wheels, both 2.35's. (Don't have the cash for new carbon wheels, although it would be nice Haha) waiting on a new bar as the stock one is cracked in 2 places from clamps being over tightened so that's next. Hopefully something with a bit of rise, maybe 25mm
  10. @Fred van Vlaanderen I have a mate that might have a spare(just awaiting size), but will need to then have a small hole to install an internal, or find someone selling an external one, it’s a 30.9 dropper I’d need.
  11. Thanks @Fred van Vlaanderen , im excited to get it out on the trail, just need to save now for a dropper, fresh fork decals and she will be good to go.
  12. Update: frame done by Jared at BMC, hub bearing replaced, new tyres, stem changed, forks decals removed and forks cleaned, and awaiting new bars (the carbon Easton bars are broken beyond repair)
  13. Solo magic link session in the heat 🥵
  14. Hi all! So, I was the lucky recipient of a hand me down 2012 Santa Cruz Tallboy 1, the is in roughish shape so I stripped her down last night and dropped the wheels off for new tires and dropped the frame off at BMC for a strip down and clear coat refurb. The rest of the parts are all working, but extremely grimy and gritty so a few questions for the experienced tinkerers out there: 1. I would like to restore the bike into the best possible condition. 2. It's the XC version and I love my trail riding, any advice on bringing this old beauty into the modern era? 3. What's the best and safest product to use across all parts to soak/ clean all the grime and grease off everything? I will post photos of the bits as i progress and breathe a new life into the old girl. Cheers!
  15. Good old Blockhouse climb
  16. @ChrisF thanks man, but yeah, thats a little too commuter for the type of riding i enjoy, just want something that can climb and shred a flow trail and single track on the way down, i dont do very techy type of riding so i dont need an extreme full suss e-bike, rather a slack hartail with good components. and no less than 140mm up front for sure
  17. I mean look at this thing... Haibike All Trail, HT with plus size tyres? this is what got me excited haha
  18. @FondTF2 Im really sorry to hear about you and your family's ordeal, iv'e been following this forum from day 1! and check in each day hoping that that **** has been caught. Sadly, it seems he is still lurking out there somewhere. This rage issue in SA is a serious problem! As a motorcycle and MTB rider, I have seen the attitude of some roadies out there, I don't mean to offend anyone because I know it's probably 1% or less riders being dicks on the road, but it's that 1% people remember. Just last week in 3 rides heading up Kloof Nek to get to the trails, I greeted (And counted) 6 dudes over the span of that week and wait for it.. not one person greeted me back. I drive a Subaru and Subaru owners say howzit in traffic just on the basis that we drive the same car, doesn't take much to be courteous. I have been cussed out for riding my motorcycle at the speed limit along Victoria Drive in CPT I would say around 12 times in the last few years, and whilst guiding a tour with some foreigners along Chapmans Peak, a friend of mines wife pulled over after the toll gate as we regrouped whilst the okes paid their toll, and a middle aged guy riding solo figured it was too much work to ride around her and instead told her to "Get the **** out his way"... she said something back to him, and then he stopped and squared up with her... then quickly realized it wasn't a HE and then quickly got back on his bike like a coward and cycled away before he caught a beating from her husband. (And I promise he would have re-arranged that man if he laid a finger on her) Moral of the story is, we all out there trying to enjoy this beautiful country on whatever craft we choose but there a small handful of individuals who like to make everyone miserable. The culprit will hopefully receive what he deserves, hopefully he faces the full brunt of the law! and if not, I hope someone teaches him that there is always someone bigger and stronger out there. rule of thumb: Don't be a Dick! @FondTF2hope you heal up soon bru!
  19. So i love my trusty Silverback Slade Trail, but toying with the idea of buying an E-Bike as a second one, but not sure if there are any slightly aggressive hardtail E-Bikes out there? anyone here built one up? don't judge me, but it's going to be for general trail riding missions around Table Mountain and around the garden route. It's just so that i can spend more time out there and go further and the occasional Cederberg trip. I love riding a HT, so just wondering if there were any trail shredders out there on an E-Bike HT?
  20. My Silverback Slade Trail! ???? had the frame stripped, brushed it up with a scotchbrite pad and clear coated! might change it to a dark metallic green/ maroon next.
