No disrespect meant to anyone. I will definately be fixing two particular corners of the Eden Singletrack Descent shortly, as I unfortunately suffer from Strava addiction and must fix my errant ways.
You will be surprised at the amount of time people get to oppose trail building. The first group of primary concern would be the Paradyskloof and Brandwag Rate payers association, with a couple of retired people that have too much time on their hands. Particularly a bald headed chap that regularly takes his two "Alsatians" for a walk and has a "military" background. "Eckhard Eco" or "Military man" sat in on most of the meetings with the municipality and stone walled all plans proposed.
I scratched/built the ridge line just before we wanted to start ERA (Eden Riders Assosiation) Got chased away by a "Eckhardt" chap that was obsessed with breaking everything we built. This led us to try talk to the municipality and other "cycling groups" (eg Amarider) but apart from red tape and lip service the E.R.A. effort took a nosedive (the page is still on facebook with some entries) It seems that only illegal building is what is possible at the moment...
Try the Ibex DH 2.4 for the front (soft 45 middle compound and 55 on side knobs) = Masons bike in has some left. For the rear , I used 2.35 Minions or High rollers with harder compound. The Ibex ; in the compound suggested wears out too fast on the rear wheel, but works very well for the front. Not sure if you can convert them to tubeless though.
