  1. I think the irrelevance and impact that this little bike shop couldve had on Specialized, had they just let it be, are on the other side of the universe compared to the damage now done as a result of their greed and media's massive appetite to devour the big guns
  2. Another example of the Specialized brand thinking they are very special, but infact they are NOT. Overrated in all aspects.
  3. Uhm...naaah!...we clearly have different car taste, I'm not into Beetles!...Lambo's ja,..not Beetles ;-D
  4. Bud, after two wheelsets bought from you, you publicly make me out to be a liar? Not good man. I asked three people for a price on wheels without horse trading, you gave me the best price, thank you for that, but do not attack my integrity on public forum, especially when nothing was mentioned about sharing pricing. Anyway, thx, I summed you up as a decent guy to whom I'll refer business to anyday, obviously you don't need that. Keep well
  5. No you never said I shouldn't!!
  6. I've just loaded a pic of my bike in the forum "Where has your bike taken you today", you can see how sweet those AC Race wheels looks!
  7. I run Rocket Ron Front 2.25wide and Racing Ralph Rear 2.25 wide Non Snakeskin Tubeless ready. Reason for wider tyre is for better protection of the depth of AC rims, narrower in my exprience are more prone to dings and scratches. Easybike sells these tires for R550 each, and so far riding Durbanvillw Hills trails that gets some rocky section exposed over summer, no hassles. Tubeless setup had to be done with a compressor or at a Garage, no hassles, seals up nicely, holds air. The tires only weigh 485gms, now that combined with the low weight of AC Race!! Enough said!
  8. Maybe this will help you! I got the wheelset + the 15mm T/A conversion from Rob at Booth Bikes for R5200, that is a good good deal.
  9. If I had to choose, one for a day to use, I'd have to say, give me MY BIKE. Meerendal fun to start in a few seconds...
  10. I got the AC Race about two weeks ago for my Anthem 1 650b, and can assure you its the best buy you can make for your bike. They are suberbly light, stiff and spins soooo fast on those excellent AC hubs. The 29er version is R2,5k more! My bike's handling has become light, nippy and climb effortless. Its really good value for money
  11. Dunno what your budget for wheels are, but I got these AC's Race from Rob at Booth bikes for R5200 incl a front 15mm axle, he's given me the best price
  12. I would say yes. Ive been on a 26er Hardtail to a 26 Dual sus, to a 29er Hardtail (x3) and now to the 650b Dual suss, all in 3years time. My very first impression getting on the 650b from a 29er was that didnt really feel like I was looking onto a smaller wheel size, instead I found myself focusing more on getting used to the rear suspension, which I obviously didnt have for a while. The 650b climbs really well, and I can track this with Strava compared to the 29er hardtail, Ive bettred quite a few climbing sections with a bike thats 1.5kgs heavier thatn what the 29er was! On the technical downhills its really fast, and rolls comfortably on the flat trail sections as well, its smooth and glides over rough section, its very nippy on tight switchbacks and singletrack and Ive even found myself comfortably taking the odd jump here and there, something I've never done with the 29er or 26er Ive invested early in the awesome very light 650b American classic Race wheelset, which feels lively compared to the stock standard Giant wheels. The only weakness I felt for the 650b is long open farm road type of riding, where its will still be obviously better that the 26er but just lacks that momentum a 29er gives, but with that said, its not like crazy bad, its slighlty, and then who only rides open roads here in the Durbanville trails,... Its a playfull feeling bike, its fast enough to race, its comfortable, it rolls over obsticals better that a 26er by far, it climbs really well, and so far I've been very impressed and really happy! And here she is!
  13. I found that 18 odd km's of flat road against the wind sooo tiring, my legs were shot when I got to that last waterpoint! Also my first race on the new bike, (switched from a 10kg 29er Carbon hardtail to a 11.5kg 650b alloy dual suss), definitely felt the weight penalty on the flats against the wind, but otherwise it was a good first time experience. I managed 3h23mins, so the new setup isn't all that bad a machine for some friendly racing...
  14. Not a bad time at all, maybe just phone them Monday instead of sending emails, people have a tendacy to forget to reply to emails when things get busy, but on the phone they must stick it out!
  15. That's very strange, but with technology, anything is possible, I'd be frustrated as well, especially after all the suffering of today!
  16. Maybe your chip is faulty, I'd buy a new one
