  1. I am battling to understand this- surely the hudges have a photo system at the finish (this is nationals after all) and then they award the price to the person who is first. ?If the guys choose to hold hands that is fine but one will be in front of the other. I must agree on the comment re juniors choosing not to sprint for a national title. ?You never know if you will ever get a chance again in your life. ?I still can remember winning mine almost 20 years ago. At the time I was sure it was the first of many but I could never repeat it....
  2. you can get crank bros shoe shields: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=25138 i havnt tried them, but am about to get some
  3. Generally I agree with JohanB but at times, not. ?Despite what his rulers tied together might suggest, I have real world experince. About a year ago I swithed from a ali hardtail (Yeti) to a Ti (Erikson). ?Almost all other components were the same, particulary wheels and tyres. The ride difference between the two in worlds apart. ?The Ali is super stiff and transmits every single bump in the road to your body. ?The Ti is very plush in absorbing trail vibration and small bumps yet still feels very very lively. ?It way well crack in time but is the miracle element when it comes to mtb frames. There is no way I would have done epic on the Yeti hardtail but it was a pleasure (90% of the time) on the Ti.
  4. Interesting, I would be surprised, but maybe it is like blind beer tasting- nobody gets it right. I would be very certain that I could tell the difference between my current road bike (Parlee), my previous one (Cannondale Six13) and the last bike I test rode (Cervelo Soloist). Also between my last two mountainbikes (an Ali and a Ti).
  5. you left out frame material (carbon, steel, Ti, etc) & construction method (glued, brazed, 1 piece, etc). In my experience this makes the biggest difference to the 'feel' of the frame. The two biggest contrasts I can think of are an old Vitus ali frame that was super comfortable but always felt 'soft' and mushy a cannondale six13 (carbon and ali) which was a harsher ride but much more lively. Carbon, in the right hands, can be tuned to give the best of everything- light, comfortable, great handling and lively- see any Parlee review.
  6. looks good, Bruce. Are you now able to update hubs ?

    Sram vs ?

went from d-ace to sram red a couple of months ago. really like the sram shifting + brakes. also it is lighter. it isnt so much better that it will change your life...
  8. I did about half of this years epic training on an SLR + hardtail. It started hurting a bit + the saddle padding (which wasnt very thick to start with) compressed so it felt like I was sitting on the bare carbon shell. Changed to a Gobi and never looked back. I highly recommend taking 2 different brands of bib shorts and rotating them. It gives any sore areas a chance to recover.
  9. that thing is just awesome!!! one of the sexiest bikes i have ever seen out of interest, when do you get to ride it ?
  10. morningside always has
  11. I have had 2 pairs of ztr Olympics, one on Tune hubs and 1 on Chris King's. The first set lasted 2 years including an epic and all the epic training without a single issue. I weighed 85kg when I first started riding these, 78 now. I can recommend them without hesitation- light weight, stiff and plenty durable.
  12. I also think good old patriotism and some financial consideration came into play here. There is a Spanish Connection here' date=' isn't there?[/quote'] JB, this sounds just like alien conspiracy theory. I would have thought that you of all people would appreciate Occam's Razor: "All things being equal, the simplest solution is best"
  13. I guess that the Rotor ring debate is now over for good: http://www.velonews.com/article/80811
  14. those numbers are just awesome, please keep them coming. whats really amazing is that they can ride like that day after day after day
