  1. On tonight. Pretty much the CM route with a loop to the South, fast as hell (some people ride it easy, but the front bunch is quick) http://www.facebook.com/?ref=tn_tnmn#!/events/452821734769645/
  2. http://vimeo.com/48977401 If you haven't seen this, check it out. Incredible video of Critical Mass Jozi
  3. Those two were picked up by a good samaritan journalist who told me she will be at critical mass next month. The girl was in tears, her boyfriend was trying his best. good date turned very very bad. But we giuded them back to their tearful mom and all ended well Bonus, as always, thanks for your help!
  4. And ThinkBike Marshals will be looking after us!
  5. tonight's ride being streamed live at skyroomlive.com Burgers at the start/finish Levi's Commuter Clubhouse open at the start Support vehicle provided by Tribe in Bryanston See you all later
  6. You don't have to, but i would advise having a front and rear light for visibility. Please note the post above re the ride back to Dunkeld
  7. To those riding to the start from Dunkeld - the ride back to Dunkeld has been dangerous because people ride back in smaller groups. I have suggested that everyone meets at the petrol station after the Nelson Mandela bridge, and the we ride back once a group has formed. Will let everyone know what the decision is
  8. Dun Time at the halfway stop will be shorter this month. The point of critical mass is to be a mass, not separate groups. And it becomes more dangerous as soon as there are separate groups
  9. Jo Burger will be selling Burgers at the Braamies Start before and after. Also the Levi's commuter clubhouse is open so check that out. There are still plans to project Lebo Rasethaba's film of CM Jozi on the buildings at the start, but it wont be this month-expensive and not enough time to organise. Re the comments on the ride being frustrating - I get it, but its a social ride. So go with friends and have a good time and don't get frustrated. The ride must be slow because if there is a puncture or technical, we can't leave the person behind, and if we move faster the group is not a mass, so it's more dangerous and we don't make the point we intend to make (yes, there is a point, believe it or not). I'm looking forward to this one - see you there!
  10. Dont forget this tomorrow morning.

  20. Next month. I will make sure we all go the right way. If people want to leave early they will though..
  21. Why must a protest be legal? If it was, we wouldn't be able to protest. Maybe someone should turn up at the next one and make a citizen's arrest. How about you Wolverine? If anyone gets arrested at CM Joburg, it will be me.
  22. This is all happening in Joburg too (you guys in CT are ahead, but not too far). As a direct result of CM I and some other cyclists from JUCA and clubs are meeting with the city every month. There are plans for open city days, where the roads will be closed. Jozi's first proper bike lane project should be completed by Decmeber 2012, funded by a German company. There are great plans for cycling in Joburg. We are not reckless savages, but protest is good when you have something to protest about.
  23. I have said it before, but it bears repeating - this picture, of all the CM Jozi pics I have seen, is the best.
  24. I have always loved that hill. And it's cool coming from Jeppestown which is all nondescript and bleak, and then hitting the left turn and being shown this view - so cool
