DD, I promise, this ride will NEVER be sponsored, official, regimented or restricted in any way, other than to keep the group together and to make sure nobody gets stranded. You know I won't let this get k*k. Levi's is opening a store in Braamfontein for 2 months, so that store will be open for 2 CM rides. Also, I met with the marshals and they understand the ethos of the ride, and they are there just to make sure we get back safely.

Ride was great, average over 30kph in front bunch, including traffic lights and all. About 15 riders turned up. Next one is oon 6 September 2012

Confirmed for August CM ride so far: Think Bike Marshalls to assist; Levi's is opening a pop-up store at Braamfontein to promote cycling and their commuter range of clothing, and the video shot by Lebo the psychotic hipster cameraman will be projected onto a big screen at the start

It's Critical Mass Jozi - that's what makes it. Weird stuff will always happen. Every month something nuts happens.

This month was good. We kept together and everyone had fun. I felt like a member of the seucrity police with that loud-hailer, but I guess it's necessary. Next month will be on the evening before Spring day. Anyone wearing anything warm will be shot

This month Braamfontein to Braamfontein distance is about 15-20kms, I have cut out the South loop and added a bit after the halfway stop. If you start from Dunkeld make sure you can ride a hill at slow pace (the whole ride is slow) and be prepared to ride a total of 45kms plus minus. You should get back to Dunkeld at 22h30-23h00. Unless you are having beer and hotdogs at Great Dane after, in which case you will get back much later, after a midnight solo sprint down Jan Smuts. Thats what i will be doing anyway

That is so cool, so many people are buying CM bikes, going out of their way to make this an event. It's quite crazy how big it has become. I don't think any of us imagined this...

The joburg CM revival started last year with 6 people (2of those went home because there were not enough people), now we have about 600. Watch how Durban gets bigger. In December, we will have the Joburg CM earlier because everyone leaves town halfway through the month, I will be on the South coast at the end of December, so i will DEFINTELY be joining the Durban ride, and I will encourage all other riders from GP that are in Durbs for December to join too. That is, if you will have us....

Great meeting you too. just didn't get to see you after the Dunkeld start. The group is so big that i find out afterwards my friends were there, and I don't even get to see them. But always meet new people, and that is the best thing!
