This is still on track for first critical mass to happen on 27 May 2011 at 19h30. Suggested start is either 44 Stanley or Kitchener's Pub in Braamfontein. The about a 15km ride in and around town, at a decent but not hectic pace (you don't want to ride slowly in town on a Friday night, trust me, ending up at Kitcheners for a drink. We will figure out the details and keep updating. In the meantime, let everyone know. This WILL be happening on the last Friday of the month after 27 May 2011. Any suggestions on route and start/finish are welcome.

All sounds good. i will discuss with friends, work out a provisional route and post it for comments. We have a month and a half, lets make it good!!

Lets shoot for 27 May 2011. I will chat with people and find out where we can meet, and a time. I know I will be able to get at least 10-15 people, hopefully in the next month we have enough time to get many more

Ok so there were 4 people there. Not much mass. Still needs to happen though. If we had to organise a first official Joburg critical mass for 29 April or 27 May, how many people would be interested? And any ideas for routes?

Nobody has said it's a bad idea, but everyone has a problem with it. Wrong day of the month. Wrong month of the year. It has failed in the past. So what? It mustn't happen in Joburg? Whatever it is going to be tonight, it may be a start and I'm going to check it out. If it's good, it may be better for next month. And it may even happen on the last Friday of the month, like it says it should in Wikipedia. Or it may not. I don't care which Friday, but I do care that it happens. Every city in the world should have one.

There is a critical mass ride happening in downtown Joburg on Friday 11 March 2011 at 19h00 at Mary Fitzgerald Square. Sould be fun, and Joburg is LONG overdue for a monthly critical mass ride. I'm not organising it, I just heard about it, but I will be there. Lets try get as many people there as possible.

the name for this thread is pretty damn good. I know I whined like a baby after that race. What a great course, but Summer races need to start earlier than 8 15 which was my start time. We were sweating waiting for the start. I cant imagine how the people riding the 70k race survived that heat.
