  1. Exactly
  2. If you don't get it, you won't get it.
  3. What I don't get (and it happens a lot towards the front) are the people who intimidate pedestrians, or even worse who are rude/insulting towards people in town who, usually are welcoming. Boggles the mind. Good thing there are very few of them and most people are there with the right attitude and for the right reasons. People of Jozi, we should be very proud that so many of us are coming out month after month and enjoying the city. And Joburgers are really great people. If you ever doubt that, come on a CM ride
  4. Thanks everyone for coming. I reckon at least 1600. Not that I bothered trying to count. If anyone has charity stuff they didn't get to drop off, inbox me and we will arrange. See you 28 September 2012
  5. Get my number at the start so we can stay in touch. I told your co-pilot that you have full permission to SEVERELY punish anyone who ends up in that van
  6. U gonna be in Mike's Van?
  7. There is no doubt that tonight will be the biggest CM ever. looking at about 1200 people, guesstimating. Let's see if I'm wrong
  8. I'm riding from Dunkeld it's near where I live
  9. The charity and some of the people that benefit will be at the start to collect
  10. I'm not sure, he just said Checkers centre
  11. Great video - if anyone has any questions about CM, watch this. No explanation will be necessary
  12. The South group is being orgaised by Shaun Hannie. This is the first month that it is coming through. I dont know the route or how many are riding. They are leaving from the Checkers centre at 18h15.
  13. Don't forget this Friday, details in the first post, please check my recent post on donations to MES and please bring and be generous. ride is free. Wish the beer was. probably a good thing it isn't!
  14. I haven't made it up yet
  15. See the first post...all info there
  16. The ride is VERY slow
  17. cyclomondo is great, even though he is Australian.
  18. 1 week to next ride, please see my post above about the charity CM is supporting and be generous if you can. See you all there next Friday! Biggest one yet (again! - when will CM reach max number of participants?)
  19. Yup - bring whatever you can (not compulsory at all) and we will drop it off on the way
  20. One of the unique things about Jozi"s critical mass ride is that most of the people that participate do not live in the inner city we ride through. Following Deon Brink's suggestion, we met with MES, an inner city based charity that has been around since the '80s. MES's website is here: http://www.mes.org.za/ We asked MES to let us know, from month to month, what it's needs are; and we will ask th... ose participating in Critical Mass to bring what they can. An excellent way that Critical Mass can give back to Jozi. Ultimately, we want more city residents to participate in Critical Mass, and with MES we want to get hold of bicycles, teach city kids to ride, and get city residents to ride aong with us, and participate in other iconic jozi cycling events, like the 94.7 For August 2012, MES needs: 195 toiletry packs (toothpaste, toothbrush, soap, wash cloth, deoderant) 4 pair of takkies size 8 6 pairs of takkies size 9 6 pairs of takkies size 10 4 pairs of takkies size 11 20 pairs of socks Somehow, we need to get bicycles, about 10, that city residents (or anyone without a bike) can use to join our ride. Critical Mass will never be a sponsored event, but donating branded bicycles could be a good way for corporate involvement. Anyone with ideas or suggestions, please inbox me. Critical Mass is big. Let's make a difference in our city! Deon Brink - great idea!
  21. Drat!! I have been discovered
  22. Rodriguez and Valverde were on Contador's wheel at every acceleration. Froome wasn't. I think Froome was being smart though. This race is going to be super good. There were more attacks in yesterday's stage than in the whole of the TDF.
  23. There is a group that rides to the start from Dunkeld (cnr jan Smuts & Bompas), through Rosebank. That group leaves at 6pm. A (very small) degree of fitness is required. the pace is SLOW but there are a few bumps going into town. The start is cnr De Beer & Juta in Braamfontein at 7pm. The route from Braamfontein is FLAT or downhill and easy. parking at Dunkeld in the lot at the Dunkeld centre. In Braamies you park on the street or for 10 bucks you can park in the covered lot one block from the start on Juta
