  1. Thanks, I phoned race organisers and substitutions are still ok. I may have found one but if it falls through will send a pm tomorrow.
  2. If anyone is not going to ride I need a number to be able to join my mates. I suspect I may suffer but that's my fault.
  3. Van Galens has some awesome trail and it has a somewhat magical feel down by the river and especially in the reed tunnels. Also great to sit down for a meal after the ride and it is family friendly and great for kids with the farm animals. The trails are not quite beginner and need a little skill to ride them all without getting off your bike, voluntarily or not, but are a lot of fun for everyone regardless. Check out the link for some photos Van Galens Trailriding Teak place have done some great work on the trails but the restaurant needs to jack up their service and accomodate the needs of the cyclists a little better. Apologies for the hijack, just posted this elsewhere. Does anyone have the gps track of the van galens route including the trails out the back. I need to do some route planning and this would be usefull. Unfortunately I only have the gps tracks next to the river.

  6. Trailriding are having a half day on Wednesday and are meeting at the MTN bikepark at 4:30 Nothing to strenuous just a general muck about wooohooo All are welcome but remember there is a R50 entrance fee to the bike park. http://trailriding.co.za/reports/mtn%20bike%20park/mtn_bike_park.html#
  7. Although Zebras are only supplied to those who have been members for more than a year. Everyone else must bring their own zebras, impala also accepted.
  8. I see there is a night ride on Wednesday, went a week ago and it was a laugh, meet at Mikes Bikes to ride at 6:00
  9. A bike shop should actually listen to their customers and sell them what they actually need, not what happens to be on the floor.
  10. On our way out to van Galens 2 weeks ago I had my bike on the rack behind me. The bike wheel sits slightly out from the car and we came across the breakfast run crowd (I believe tequila in an integral part of breakfast). The bikes were coming towards us and overtaking traffic and as a result were zipping between me in my 2 tonne landrover and the oncoming traffic. I was terrified that one of them would catch a handlebar on my bicycle wheel. For ID I am thinking of having a card laminated with all the info which I keep on a lanyard around my neck
  11. This is how I view my entry fee for 94.7, for one day we own the roads.
  12. I have entered but I did take pause and consider it, also not being licensed the R30 temp licence does annoy. Hopefully CSA puts it all to good use. It is becoming more difficult to justify these entry fees, especially in view of all the sponsorship something like the 94.7 gets
  13. I always kept a small dispenser of antiseptic talcum powder at the office, great for keeping that jock itch at bay, that and Dettol cream. I live near the dome and work in sandton, 24 km each way and 400m af climbing.
  14. I think also they will have to prove intent, was the intention of the obstacle to cause injury? Lawyers aside we have to remember someone has a severe injury, self inflicted but an injury none the less.
  15. May I suggest we also put our money where our mouths are and make some donations to Richard should he need money to defend this issue.
