  1. I'm running the Mavic Charge 650B on my Spicy. Replaced the Hans Damph Pacestar on the front with this and it has amazing grip. On the back I've stuck with the HD Pacestar and that's perfect for the back. Seems like the bike rolls a bit slower with the Charge as it's a very soft compound but the grip is well worth it.
  2. I have this Magura Gustav M brake assembly, only the one though. Very powerful brake with great modulation. It's big and heavy though.

  4. Was so awesome to be there to witness Greg's win. So much pressure for him and pulls of such a brilliant win on home soil!
  5. I take it its a 29er?
  6. Yes Nigel blue commencal. He had some proper pace
  7. If I remember correctly the elites was 1st Tiaan Odendal 2nd Tim Bentley and 3rd Alister Fay.
  8. I was so bummed I took myself out in practice and could not race. Really had fun on the track last weekend. Who was on the Commencal? He was looking really good on his race runs! Well done Aubrey on your result!
  9. Knee could be better Grebel. Ended up in the ER Sat night. Aubrey dropped me of at home and I could not even walk into the house. After some x rays, meds and a set of cruthces I'm better. Seeing the Ortho tomorrow to check ligaments etc. House the shoulder Grebel? Oh and one more casualty was Aubrey's bike. Cracked rear end.
  10. You guys ready to get dirty tomorrow?
  11. I'm very keen. The more I ride the track last weekend the more I enjoyed it. Not hitting the big stuff though. Need a lot more courage for that. See you guys there. Just hope the track is fairly dry
  12. Ja, good one Nigel. Pity you had to sit it out. You can come smoke us at the next one!
  13. So how did everyone enjoy the racing today? I had a jol, the more I rode it the more I liked it. Was not going for the road gap though. I smashed my rear brake master cylinder on a tree in my last practice run and had to rush to Greg Minnaar Cycles where Shane quickly helped me out with a new brake set so that I could get back and ride. Hope there were no major crashes. Looking forward to the next one.
  14. Entry done. Looking forward to the race. See everyone there.
  15. Plenty of good riding in the Durban and Pmb area. Giba Gorge for me is one of the best places in Durban and the Pmb is well worth going to ever so often to go ride in Cascades and Karkloof.
  16. I just went from XT to XT shadow plus and wish I had done it sooner. Slightly harder on the up shift but still very crisp. Well worth it for the more technical terrain
  17. Just fitted a new XT Shadow plus Rear Derailer and XT Chain to my 2012 Scott Spark 40 last nite. Then went online this morning and spotted the CWC Mavic specials, so my set of Crossmax ST's should be on their way soon!! Budget is now finished for bike upgrades for a long time.
  18. Thanks Nigel. Will try to get up there this weekend and give it a go. Enjoy the jol.
  19. Anyone riding at Cascades this Sunday. Myself and a couple of guys want to go give it a bash. Also, is it good to ride cause I saw Nigel mentioned work being done on the track.
  20. Wish I could join you guys. Got a mates wedding tomorrow in the midlands and staying over. Won't be safe to be on a DH bike on Sunday! Enjoy
  21. Hope you find something soon. I'm so keen for some DH riding. We must organise something. I have missed one or two wed nights due to work and this crap weather. Been slack. Next Wednesday I'll be there though. Check you on the trails then.
  22. Howzit Aubrey. Have you got a DH bike yet or are you still punishing your Giant?
  23. I just bought the Spark 40 and I'm very happy with it. As for as I know the frames are the same just the components differ and I find the bike handles beautifully. Back shock is a bit hard and I'm running mine now at 25% sag and it feels very good. I would really recommend it
  24. I'm running 2.1 Mountain King II up front and X King at the back. UST's. This works really well for me. Now my new bike has come with 2.1 Rocket Ron's and these feel surprisingly good. Going to fit the Conti's next week so will see which work better. As mentioned the tyre pressure make a huge difference. I've slowly learned that 2 bar at the back and 1.6 to 1.8 bar in the front works for me. I'm 70 kg's.
  25. Just picked up my new 2012 Scott Spark 40 yesterday afternoon. Have not had a chance to take it for a decent ride yet but come Wednesday night it will be ready for the weekly Giba night ride with it's dropper post and Easton XC One wheels. My girlfriend is not going to be seeing much of me this weekend!
