I am looking for some info regarding riding at Van Gaalens 1) What does it cost to ride there 2) Suitable for what levels ..kids and unfit wives 3) What type of facilities is there can you buy food ?can you braai there? 4) Do you have to book to ride there? Thanks

Cramp stop actually helps to cramp more I've tried them and cramp even more .This year on the Crater Cruise I started to cramp badly in the muscles in my upper leg from about 65 km I took a Norflex tablet and it seemed to work for a while But I couldnt walk properly for a few days felt if I ran the Comrades.

hope that no 13 will be lucky no 13 are going to try to get as near as posible to 3:00 hours hear the race is 97 km this year

If you think those okes in the photo's is bad you should have seen the idiot yesterday morning 06:45 om the N14 opposite Diepsloot riding on the yellow line and his wife,girlfriend ,stukkie,cherrie blocking the traffic in the left hand lane with her car .Even if it was a Sunday morning with little traffic you dont ride on the N14! O'and that other dude I think it is Floyd Landis training here in Cycle Lab colours

Did the Mogale Spring race yesterday on the mtb with knobblies max hr was 183 and average 155 Didnt go fast as I used it for prep for the Cruise.

At least I've got my Tshirt and a nice bike tool with a pouch but still I am pissed off

Race finisher = medal. It's like koffie en beskuit ,pap en wors and bacon and eggs it just go together ,no medal .... me the moer in.

Where can one train these days ? Riding off road you get hijacked riding on the road you get whacked by cars.Also had a close encounter yesterday with a taxi driving in the yellow lane on the Randfontein Krugersdorp road .Gonna take up bowls at least then I can die of a heart attack on the greens.

Hi need some tips for training for the Crater Crooze.I've done all of the 100km races but every year I k@k on this race .You pro's how and where do you train , a) where do you train... on the road or off road b) if on the road what bike do you use road or mtb.

Nee ek dink al hoe meer gister se race was 'n boggerop self die timing is 'n gemors van die 8 persone in ons klub het net een volgens hulle die race voltooi . Fritz Pienaar en Spektrum sport(tyd houers) sal hulle sokkies moet op trek as hulle van die reeks 'n sukses wil maak . Ek sal dit ernstig moet oorweeg of ek die volgende race gaan doen.

Daar is tyd verskil van 22 min tussen my ry tyd en my algehele tyd en het 36,8 km op my speedo gekry .Kyk ek het darem lekker gatvol geraak toe ek die een ou vir die derde keer verby gaan en hy het nie een keer verby my gekom nie . Baie mense het shortcuts gevat om die bottel nekke te vermy. Ek dink as daar nie opeenhopings was nie sou dit 'n baie vinnige race gewees het.

I am using a velcro strip around my ankle with my cc and had no problems so far but the little thingy on the fork is rubbish especialy on a mtb On the Crater cruise I used that thing on the fork and I lost my chip luckily someone found it and when he passed me he asked if I lost my cc Any case CC WT and SS all have their problems

Send your news photos to us Johannesburg - Fritz Pienaar Cycles has denied any involvement in price fixing. This after the Competition Commission announced it was investigating a possible cartel operated by local bicycle retailers. "We firmly deny any involvement in any alleged scheme to break the law and create a so-called cartel to fix prices or margins in the cycle retail industry," director Fritz Pienaar said in statement on Saturday. He said the company attended an open forum discussion in Johannesburg last year to discuss the challenges facing the bicycle industry as a whole. More than 40 retailers and wholesalers were present at the discussion. "The intentions of this meeting were honourable, and all those present set out to find solutions to challenges facing the industry that would benefit the wholesalers, retailers and consumers... the inquiry appears to be based on minutes of this open forum discussion." Earlier this month, the commission said it had in its possession minutes of the meeting at which it appeared a group of bicycle retailers met to discuss how to increase profit margins. The minutes from the meeting were also posted on a forum on cycling website, www.thehubsa.co.za. The shop owners allegedly discussed ramping up the prices on cycling accessories to increase margins from 50% to 75% - ramping up prices of bicycles to increase margins from 35% to 50 % and co-ordinating these increases to be introduced at the same time. The commission said the shop owners also apparently discussed a plan to get certain wholesalers to collaborate. The retailers apparently wanted the wholesalers to provide a new suggested retail price to them. The commission said shop owners had apparently held face-to-face meetings in Gauteng and Cape Town about cartel plans. "We welcome the inquiry into this matter and pledge our full support to the Competition Commission," said Pienaar.
