  1. Look has received isolated reports of axle breakage in older Keo pedals, but the rate is extremely low. In the US there are 80,000 1st generation Keo pedals in circulation, and there have been 16 reported incidents resulting in 7 injuries, only one of which is known to have required hospital treatment. The guys at Look strive for perfection, and a zero% fail rate.
  2. Hi All. I have had a lot of queries....and there seems to be a bit off a misunderstanding....This is a voluntary axle upgrade. Look decided to upgrade customers with the first generation Keo axles, to the newest Keo axles for free. Ring your nearest store to let them know you want the axle...they will let me know, and I will be shipping the axles mid September on their arrival from France. These pedals are not faulty, all pedals as they are, comply with all safety standards applicable to bicycle pedals, including but not limited to EN 14781 (European standard adopted by CEN October 2005), AFNOR NR R 30-020 (France national standard, adopted 1998), and the US Consumer Product Safety Commission Requirements for Bicycles, 16 CFR Part 1512 (adopted December 1978).
  3. Look Cycle has instituted a voluntary recall and upgrade in order to provide consumers who own 1st generation Keo pedals (pedals produced from 2004 until December 2005) with an opportunity to upgrade their pedals with axles that were introduced for Keo pedals in 2006. Consumers in South Africa have been invited to bring their pedals to authorized Look Cycle dealers to have these axles replaced free of charge, but we do not believe there are any special hazards that require any sort of emergency action. PLEASE NOTE: The upgrade axles will arrive in South Africa mid September. Please contact your local store, which in turn will contact me to arrange the replacement.
  4. Ewep...a NON refundable deposit of R60 000 will do....and I will gladly organize you the frame. (chainset, stem and pedals included)
  5. Hi Ewep....yes...it's pretty savage looking. What makes the setup really impressive is the oversize BB & one piece cranks they developed. The spider can take any chainrings...and the crank length can be adjusted from 170mm to 175mm.
  6. Just want to say thanks to everybody that participated in the poll...much appreciated.
  7. I personally don't think they will ...within the next few years anyway. There is far to many frame failures currently.
  8. My Favorite, the 595 Team.
  9. This 586 is 6.2kg....size medium...with pedals.
  10. You might be right Delgado....here we go. Pictures - as found on www.cyclingnews.com
  11. Hi Mampara, The 566 will retail for around R21500 depending on the exchange rate. The 986 still has the integrated seatpost...it's the 996 that will use a normal post.
  12. Hi Guys. Have a look at the link....would have love to post the pics here....but rather not infringe with the copyright. http://cyclingnews.com/tech.php?id=tech/2008/features/look_road_intro_08
  13. Hi Hot Stuff, Please return the pedals to the store where you got them from...and get them to send it back to me. Any problems....just PM me.
  14. Still suck in customs guys.....seems as if I placed a curse on myself?? Should have it by Tuesday...
  15. For 2009 the clip at the back(which holds the cleat) will also be available in white.....so there will be two Carbons on the market.
  16. No probs. An ideal pedal would be the Keo Classic....the new 2009 Classics are really cool looking....all black. How do they differ from the 2008 Classic's? They haven't changed the specification...just the body of the pedal. They used to be "graphite" in color.....but will be available in a Black and a Red version. (Black-same body used on the Keo elle before)Mr LOOK2008-08-01 04:32:37
  17. No probs. An ideal pedal would be the Keo Classic....the new 2009 Classics are really cool looking....all black.
  18. Are there any pro's who refuse to use the teams sponsored pedals?i can imagine some guys want to stick to their favourite brand. i see our olympic swimmers can way whichever cossie they want now. it was an issue because swimming sa is sponsored by arena, but speedo suits are appreciably quicker right now. SASCOC stopped acting like sascock and saw the light. I don't know of any guys not wanting to ride Keo's....I do however know of riders in other teams using Keo pedals, rather than their sponsored pedal. Mr LOOK2008-07-31 02:09:28
  19. No problem. Give Leigh's Cycle Center a shout.
  20. Hi Rich' date=' what color Shimano cleats to you use? The yellow cleats should give you ample movement? You definitely need movement....it's just better to prevent injury this way, although there's a few guys around that prefer fixed cleats (Red-Shimano & Black-LOOK cleats)....try and avoid it. You really need to have a near perfect action to get away with them. [/quote'] I use Shimanos with the yellow cleats and it 'had' alot of float. The reason I say had is becuase if you've spend alot of time on the MTB and go back to the road bike, it feels like there is almost no float. Talking about float, now I want a coke float. You are right Mampara...Some guys feel that the 9deg float is too much....for that reason Keo cleats come in a grey version which offers 4.5deg....which should be near perfect for everyone.
