  1. I just went shopping for the Tread Mag and i specifically need Issue 8 but could not find it anywhere. Everywhere that i went has already sent it back to the suppliers earlier this weeek. There is a specific article i really would like to read in the mag - on the Serfas XCR 3 2011 bike. Does anyone have the mag that i can ask to scan just this article and email it to me? I will PM my email addy if anyone can help. I would me most grateful.
  2. I am in the same position - have about 6k and want to buy new. I was also looking at the Terrago Disc. I have also seen the Wheeler Pro 69 at http://www.solomons.co.za/node/1032 Still deciding though... Will check out the Moongoose you mention as well.
  3. Yip, one close shave on your noggin and then its helmet for life. I once fell off a horse as i was mounting it. He freaked out about something and decided to flee as i was mounting him. This resulted in me falling at a nasty angle going down head first. To top the lot the horse managed to head butt me horribly as he was turning to flee. An accident that happened before even taking one step. I had my helmet on but had i not, i dread to think what would have happened. So ever since then i put my noggin protection on before even mounting a horse or bike!
  4. Same... I ride mine to the shops and hairdresser (on the rare occasion i get my hair cut ) and both are less then one km away, but i still put my helmet on. I guess this is ingrained in me from years of riding horses.
  5. Here is a link which I just came across with more info on the bike: https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/72137-wheeler-69-full-slx-bike/page__p__1040577#entry1040577
  6. I am new to the MTB world having only been around for about 3 months. However i love it and I am already looking at upgrading. But I am not willing to spend a fortune. I am not a serious MTB person, I enjoy the trails without rock climbing. I also aim to do a few races but nothing too serious. Today I saw a Wheeler Pro 69 at Solomans. However I dont know anything about this brand having never even heard of it. The bike has a full Shimano SLX groupset and the frame apparently comes with a 5 year warranty. Does anyone know this brand, if it is any good, and if it would be worth considering buying. The bike is 7k marked down from 10k. Thanks!
  7. This is disgusting. What a huge waste of perfectly edible food. So I suppose it all goes in the trash now? I wonder if anyone had the savvy to at least donate it to the SPCA to at least help feeds the animals.
  8. This is terrible and my condolences to the family. I hope this brat kid gets life.

    NF TJOPS

I agree with Slowpoke. I went there yesterday afternoon and found a grass path / road leading off one of the main dirt roads. I rode along a short way (about 10m) and came across a gate which was open, but it lead into one of their big fields with the huge irrigation thingies. So i figured that riding in that field is not allowed so i turned back to the main dirt road. I did not want to disrepect their land and choose to stick to the main road where i know we are allowed to ride. I find it incredibly disrespectful to ride where there are signs saying no entry, or where it is not clear if access is allowed (common sense?). Rather stick to the routes marked on their map. Go and get a route map and follow it!
  10. I love this band! Going to the concert as well! Cant wait!

    MTN Bike Park

Yip, been to NF a number of times (well... about 4 times as well). We recently brought the R300 ticket as well Have had the MTB for about two months now, but only really been getting into it properly over the past month or so. Going to try the bike park for something different and where I can increase my fitness levels without being stuck 20km from base

    MTN Bike Park

Great thank you! I heard they were open late on Tuesday evenings? Is that still the case?
  15. Can anyone give me some info on the bike park in Bryanston? I want to go try it out but not sure if being a new biker that it would suit me. What are the opening hours and costs? I see the website is down so cannot access much info on it.

    Bike Service

Thanks for the great response! BigS, I am on the West Rand. Morewood, thanks, have taken note of all this. I did demonstrate to them whilst the bike was still on the back of my car. Buffy, thanks, I have been to Linden and will probably go back there the next time something needs fixing. I also found that Linden were better stocked than many other shops on a number of things. Zaskar, thanks i will take a look, not that i know what im looking at Its all still a learning curve for me. Nobody, yeah im going up later to fetch it. Will test it and see for myself.

    Bike Service

Where is a good decent shop to take MTB's for a GOOD service? Being new to the MTB world I dont know where to go or what is done at a service. Also, what causes the rear wheel to stick? If i spin the rear wheel (not on my bike, this is on the bike of the other half) it spins and then sticks and stops. Would this be a wheel balance problem? I took the bike to Cajee's this morning to have the wheel fixed as we want to go riding this weekend. But seeing that the bike went in for a service there just last week, and they did not notice the problem then (the wheel was sticking before the service, i thought they may fix it), i am not sure it will be fixed properly. Even though I have had great service from them as that is where we brought the bikes, I am starting to look around at other shops. Any help and advice for a newbie rider? Thanks
