  1. thanks Gents, looks like I will have to take a look at the fit, rode a giant large before but perhaps the Spez will be a more comfy fit
  2. indeed, looks like an awesome racing machine
  3. Haven't seen the Spez, the Giant looks really cool. when you buy the TCR Adv frame only (I.e not as a complete bike) it comes in white with black writing. My lbs says the Spez is quite a new frame and not many stores have it yet..have you?
  4. Well, the Giant is R13300, The Spez is a bit more at R14500
  5. Thanks for the response..I'm a giant large,56 cm top tube
  6. Hey guys, so it comes down to this: Giant TCR Advanced vs Spez Comp. Its more or less the same price, what do you knowledgeable cyclists suggest? The Giant comes with internal cabling which is quite neat, the Spez doesn't in this version of the Tarmac. both look very cool, verdict? or
  7. Sorry man, most likely I'm an Medium/Large
  8. My road frame is cracked and I need a new one. Anyone recommend any good frames for R10 000 and possibly a wheelset for R3000? (Most I can spend is R13k, so a cheaper frame and more expensive wheels will do as long as its R13k or under) Options are Giant TCR Composite: R9700, no idea about wheels though..
  9. Did a 4H21 from PB last year (was my first Argus). It was good enough to put me more or less mid field of all finishers. I'm in group WW..does that sound right to any of the experienced guys out there?
  10. hey DJR! thanks for the reply. I guess it was because I had started training after some time. let's see what happens. Thanks again man
  11. Hey guys Started using a new saddle (Spez Toupe) on the recommendation that the cutout will relieve the numb feeling. Well, can't say its solved that problem much, but may tailbone was really sore to the extent that I found it difficult to stand up after being seated and even when going into a lying down position to do situps. The pain is right on the tailbone (bottom of spine) Anybody else experienced this? Maybe its the new saddle (most likely is), but is this normal? Taken a break from cycling and its gone away after a week and a half..
  12. I bought mine at Chris Willemse in Tyger Valley for R599..
  13. Paul van Kets was my u/10 cricket coach! When I saw him paddling across the ocean it was hard to believe that an 'ordinary' guy could do all that. Well done to you two for taking on this awesome journey!
  14. Ebe, similar thing happened to me. one morning my family woke up to find that our metal gate had been lifted off the hinges and stolen! Was driving on woodstock main road the next week and glanced at one of the pawn shops along the main road and saw our metal gate! Stopped off, asked them where they got the gate, told them it was mine and it was stolen and took the gate back. Best not to negotiate with these thieves, just take what is yours and let them come after you if they have any problems.
  15. This is terrible news, my condolences to the family.
  16. you could even try Westdene cycles in jo'burg. Their prices are consistently cheaper and because you're looking for a road bike (and road season is just about done) you might be able to score a good deal
  17. I always enjoy it although once the waiter took about 20 minutes to arrive with the bill after we requested it. Food's really good too. what happened?
  18. Thanks very much gents. F_R_A_I_L the websites were very helpful as the PPA link to seeing cycling clubs on their website doesn't seem to work! I-felt-the-force will definitely PM you. your pace is pretty much what I look at so am definitely keen. Thanks a mil AAJ
  19. Hi guys I'm an average cyclist (despite my nickname) looking for a group to ride with on weekend mornings. If you know of any clubs etc. in my area please let me know? not sure where to look for this type of thing. Thanks Joe
  20. Sorry guys, reposted this to 'group rides'. Not sure how to delete the post tho?
  21. Thanks - very very helpful!
  22. Question from a beginner: whats the difference between the Trance and the Anthem frames?
  23. Are you joking? (this is a serious question) Why would riding your mtb on the road make you slower on your road bike? Surely if you keep your leg speed up, you won't lose any speed?
  24. wow, this ended up being a long thread. guess I will have to wait and see for myself Now that you guys have me convinced, all I have to do is save up for these bloody expensive things!
