  1. This is just a note to prove that there is still hope. I have just had the most incredible service from Bike Bay and then in turn from Morningside Cycles. Bought a bike off Bike Bay and experienced a problem on my first ride - no hesitation Brett suggested I take the bike to MSC for them to sort the problem out. Well what a pleasure it was dealing with the guys there. They are enthusiastic, professional and informative. My problem was sorted in no time AND I got a phone call to tell me the bike was ready. No I don't work for and am not related to either businesses Yes I will use both these outlets again. BIG THUMBS UP TO THEM BOTH
  2. HI - How many of you need accomodation?
  3. Black Small Raleigh MTB with computer, racing saddle and tubeless tyres taken off suspected thief in Johannesburg city area. If you know off this bike going missing and you can give us specifics it may be your lucky day. 083 785 3322
  4. Hey FASST - where did you see the results - I've been checking entry time and I cannot find results posted
  5. Feel the same on the topic - BUT - I think it is unfair to hurl this at roadies. I do both and both lots are guilty. I am sorry I refuse to get complacent about the lack of respect there is for our environment. Abuse comes without question and from both sexes when one comments on the act. They feel it is their right as SOMEONE will clean up after them.
  6. Strange I was just looking at CX this week and thinking "I'd like to try CX" So beside the brakes, rims and tyres - what makes a CX bike?
  7. Great Race - first time I did this one and I am wondering why I avoided it in the past. It's local for me - rolled out of bed around 6h10 and still got the the race early. High five for this race will attempt the 101 next year. Thanks to the BM/AM group that stayed together from start to finish - good pace, a bunch of sane cyclists for a change.
  8. Hi all doing the race on Sunday. Watch out on the R82 past the Aloeridge Turn off and a little after the entrance to Hatzenbergfontein and Thyme Square Nursery - "NEW" rumble strips have been laid, so prepare for some bone jarring. For those who don't know the area too well its on the approach to Walkerville
  9. This is how I see it going down. Buyer sms "do you still have the bike" Seller sms "yes, where are you" being pro active as I could take the bike to work to make it easy for the buyer Buyer "mentions area" Seller "will contact you tomorrow" Buyer "great" Next day after numerous phone calls to the number with no answer service buyer sms Buyer "bike with me so ring me if you want to meet" Seller"where are you" And so it goes on and on One heck of a communication trail to want to hang on to - so please don't give me the line of if yu want to sell something you must go out of your way. It's a two way thing. I have something you may want so make a plan. I tried to make life easy by opting to take the bike in to work as I know I live out of town and it is off putting/ The problem with people today is that they don't know how to communicate effectively. Far better speaking to someone. Its can change the entire deal either good or bad.
  10. What's with people who reply to an add, I assume looking to purchase the item advertised - but insist on sending you endless SMS's asking you all manner of questions to which you must reply. If I see something and am interested I pick up the phone and call. Call me "toit" if you must - but why should I pay for SMS's when someone wants to buy off me......WOW I NEEDEd TO GET THAT OUT.
  11. Please can some of you cycle heads advise best gearing set up to ride with for the type of riding we do in Gauteng. Undulating, flat and sometime Suikerbos. I am not a power house. Currently have 53/39 and 12/25. Thanks
  12. Sure the time is in there but too many pages to go through. What time is this group meeting on Saturdays at the moment?
  13. Hi there just seen your post re: moving - we are around 15kms from Meyerton on the R82 on a smallholding and we are looking for a tenant for our cottage. The cottage is a large one bedroom dwelling. I cycle, road and mtb and our one cycle buddy is a paddler and they paddle the Klip and other rivers. We have Ohenimuri golf course and various others around IF you are a golfer. I am a member of the Circus cycle club - down the road from home. Cycling in the area is great - much less traffic than around the north and Suikerbosrand is on our doorstep. See cottage pics - 082 785 3322 / 083 616 9079
  14. No did not clear it as I was on my cycle - if you turn off the R82, travelling south, just past the dairy turn towards the shooting range, around 1 km heading east along the dirt road, you will find it on your left hand side. Are MTBing ?
  15. Was out cycling today and came across this mess. Now I speak under correction but this looks suspiciously like the left overs at a water point. Where ? Walkerville common, between the dairy farm and the shooting range. Now I did not ride in the Country Classic last weekend but I am familiar with the route they use and if I am correct and this is what was left behind by our nature loving cyclist then you are not welcome in our area. We have enough problems with illegal dumping and do not need the added mess left from a cycling event. Clean up your act organisers. If I remember correctly this was a Spektrum sport event. As I say - I stand to be corrected, but it just seems too much of a coincidence.
  16. Phew - okay thanks for the comments. Case closed and happy cycling.............
  17. Thanks for the comments but perhaps I need to ask my question in a different way as the item was not bought long distance, sight unseen. It is in good condition, though used. It has been overlooked buy a Thule stockist and deemed fit. I just find there seems to be a lot of rocking of the bikes especially when the road surface is not that good. I have been using the usual town bar bike caddy type carrier and do not like the set up as it gets awkward with the different frame types, especially with MTB's and not sufficient space with bottle cages etc. So....... Decided to buy one of these as they seem to be sought after ON THE HUB and have been well recommended on THE HUB. So it is not as if I went in to the purchase blind.
  18. I bought a second hand Thule Ride On - it is a few years old however the basics are there and it is in fair condition. No tilt function. I find there is a lot of movement from the bikes - is this normal? Also the centre folding arm does not make me feel happy,is it supposed to lockin to place, how safe is this carrier? Fits snug enough on the ball hitch (don't say that fast) but I resorted to using a bungee for extra security. I only loaded one bike and am a bit loathe to load two due to the movement and possible damage this may cause. Any tips or comments - please.

Having a moment - can not remember which chip is Racetec - is it the Yellow one ex Winning time OR is it the green one - Championchip ???? Are we using Racetec for road FAST ONE? Thanks
  20. I am sure that this question has been asked and answered but there are a Brazilian replies and pages and I do not know where to locate the info immediately. Please can someone tell me:- Do you meet Sat AND Sun at 7am ? Where is the best and safest place to park. Thanks
  21. I am looking at buying a secondhand Giant TCR 2C with 105 group set. Firstly I am not familiar with 105's - how does it perform against Ultegra? Also can anyone comment on whether this is a good carbon frame. I am on a tight budget and this seems to be a good deal as I am getting the saddle I want, the bar width I require and Kysirium Race rims, computer and the bike is in good condition for R11 000. Comments - advice. Thanks
