  1. Using nothing?!?!?!?!?!?! I have to at least use a bike......
  2. Pretty standard LBS prices....
  3. I can't wait to see this creation!
  4. Gotta love Grant Usher on Twitter: Georgie, georgie pudding and pie, f@ck you for putting mud in our eye. That's why we ride SS and drink beer, for the fun of it!#whataknob
  5. Thanks a stack to Nicolai for donating the Silverback Oakland MTB. This bike is going to the MES charity in the JHB CBD. Visit www.mes.org.za
  6. HTFU and ride rigid. Spend the money you would have used for the fork on beer. Period.
  7. Someone on that descent crashed 2 riders in front of me and as I was passing him, he was standing up. I asked if he was ok and he was laughing like a kid. All he said was "I'm just having a bit of fun!"
  8. Haha, thanks G!
  9. It was not particularly SS-friendly. I saved some energy for the last 25 km, so I took it fairly steady in the beginning and just tried to limit my losses. Where I found myself walking, most guys walked too (C - my batch - and D-batch guys), so didn't lose out too much there. It was the fast start that found me caught by D-batchers within 15km! The flattish middle section was challenging but I found that I could just about keep position through there... I was passed by 2 geared mates from D-batch at 17km, but I caught and passed them again at 50km. All in all, I'm happy and glad that I can survive the big-boy races now. The 94.7 mtb race this weekend should feel very tame compared to Hakahana!
  10. FFS, I sprinted home in 4:11. Broken I was!
  11. My time was 20min faster than VG, so I'm happy with that. This race was tougher on the SS due to the very flat beginning and middle sections. Why put in climbs that nobody could dream of riding? Nonsensical to me.... Overall I enjoyed the race, but it was a bit too dirt-road-race for me a lot of the time. The nice rocky descents were awesome though!
  12. You must have had too much pronutro for breakfast Gordon! Too much of strong to break a frame like that!!!!
  13. Got a set for myself and a set for the wife. Awesome price, awesome quality. Easy as pie to fit and adjust and fantastic 1-finger braking. Highly recommended. http://www.shimano.com/publish/content/global_cycle/en/us/index/products/mountain/deore/product.image.+media+images+cycling+products+bikecomponents+BLM+BL-M596_600x450_v1_m56577569830752517_dot_jpg.bm.512.384.gif
  14. .....and that's why we ride SS! Welcome to the family!
  15. For sure! And I still have 2 headset caps for you! Let me know if we can meet up like last time. Thanks!
  16. Nice work guys! Let's keep it up! Let's see if we can hit at least 10 pages.

  19. Good job man!
  20. For the marathon route there is still one more surprise in the bag, and riders are advised to leave some energy in their tanks for the final 20 kilometers. Oh ok, like Jou Bliksem all over again.....yippee.
  21. Good job, now post some pics! Glad I could help!
  22. Then I get to choose the winner as well? HTFU top cap to the winner!!!!
  23. I just received this request: Hi there. I am looking for 1 more bike for my third farm worker. His bike as stolen a year back and I have been unable to replace it due to finances. I run a non-profit organisation dedicated to vulture conservation www.vulpro.com and am not in a position to buy a bike at the moment. Bikes are essential for my workers as this helps them get around, buy food supplies etc. I have 3 farm workers and they are like family to me. they keep the farm and animals going and help with all our vulture conservation work at the Centre. It would be hugely appreciated if you can help or know of a spare bike somewhere which is sitting around, doing nothing... my contact details are on the website but also here at kerri.wolter@gmail.com or 082-808-5113. Thanks so much I need a 26-inch fork and headset so that I can get a bike to this guy. Thanks!
