  1. Today I learned that if you don't ride over the weekend, the first commute can be FAST! Amazing what 4 days of rest (not riding) can do.....
  2. I have just emailed you guys!
  3. And I learned today that I am not doing the driver-cyclist relationship any favours. A business woman in a fancy Mercedes sedan waits til the light is red, then pulls out, almost taking me out. Then within 5 meters she's stuck in traffic again. This is where I lose it and give her some driving pointers i.e. look where the F@#$ you're going and STOP when the light is red! At full volume while flat-handing her passenger window as hard as I can without breaking my hand. Didn't really make me feel any better, to be honest. Next time I might attempt a friendly conversation. Um, yeah right!
  4. Today I learned to make sure I have work shoes at work. Luckily my cycling shoes are pretty subtle......
  5. Wow! Thanks so much for the kind offer! I'll PM you my details.
  6. And today I re-learned how much difference a stiff headwind can make.
  7. Gears yesterday and SS today. Ouch.
  8. Tomorrow is the start of the 2015 commuting season for me. It ends on 15 Dec 2015 21km each way, 3x a week. Time to save petrol money and get in to shape for the MTB race season.
  9. About 2 years ago, we gave Petrus this Trek Fuel bike. It was generously donated to us and we knew he'd get good use out of it. A few months ago the bike went missing under suspicious circumstances. 2 weeks ago, Petrus saw the bike being ridden near Diepsloot and him and a friend fought off the rider and retrieved the bike. The bike had been severely abused and now needs some serious maintenance and repair. Among other things, the bike needs new grips, a new brake lever blade, and a new chain, cassette and chainrings. Probably more parts too. We'll know more once we start taking it apart for a rebuild.
  10. Thanks Lurch. Yes I do accept cash. This helps pay for hard to find parts like new chains, cables etc. as well as for my monthly storage costs. I'll PM you.
  11. Thanks a million. I'll PM you when I'm back in joburg.
  12. Head on over to our Facebook page and give us a like. Stand a chance to win a very limited edition jersey and a chain degreaser/microfiber cloth kit by CleanXtreme. We need 1000 likes by Christmas!
  13. The yellow bike is going today. The other 2 before year end. This will bring the number of bikes we've given away to 50!
  14. 38 up front? No problem. Just stick a 19 or 20 out back.
  15. All done and ready to roll....
  16. My newly built 1x6 Solaris. Still needs brake hoses and fork steerer trimmed
  17. Um, you forgot one....

  20. We had our first group enter the 947 Cycle challenge as a "ride for a purpose" charity and it was awesome! I had some great sponsors onboard and the riders had a blast. Thanks to everyone who helped make the day possible and most of all, thanks to all my sponsors and everyone who raised funds for the initiative.
  21. not yet. Will the Knard work nicely on a ZTR Flow?
  22. You should not use DOT fluid in a mineral oil system as it will destroy the seals and other internals. Best you flush the system with proper mineral oil ASAP or you'll be buying new brakes.
