  1. Look again guys, they haven't gone anywhere.
  2. Parking and permits (R50) at Helderberg Farm, sign posted off R44 close to Somerset West. Trails are marked from the Bluegum forest just behind the coffee shop. More XC trails than DH, just stay away from double black diamond if not comfortable with jumps - you can expect some gap jumps on those. Red, green and blue trails don't have gaps. Black single diamond has steep rock gardens. Be aware of 4x4's - there are one or two trail crossings. Try not to hang around on the take off or landing of the DH jumps - riders often come in a very fast leaving almost no time to stop. Rule #1 - #10: Lookee 1st, ridee after.
  3. No news is good news, right?
  4. No news is good news, right?
  5. Your trick knee would definitely not have enjoyed the 2 and a half hour hike a bike over loose rock.
  6. It was quite a bit longer than last year. As you would have known if you had come with us instead of making a few lame excuses....
  7. Bottom line, the coffee shop owner is a small minded toolbag - I've had dealings with him in the past. He's sore about Ride-in "stealing" his customers. The bigger the storm, the better it makes him feel about his far reaching influence. Scott's actions are also very questionable. What is the policy on Spez branding on the gate or just inside the gate, saying something along the lines of: "Trails brought to you by Specialized" If out and out branding is a problem, we need a (very) large detailed trailmap - that would have loads of room for branding. Every trail can be called Specialized Black Diamond and Spezialised Canary. Would Cape Pine have an issue with this?
  8. What annoys me much more that coming upon them on the trail, are the sub par parking skills of the T&T bunch. I've was solidly parked in, no make that, boxed in, one evening. Other groups of runners arrive early on weekends and park in such a way that a third of the space under the trees is unusable. I've seen them at it and have had my kind suggestions ignored. Maybe I should work on my bright and cheerful face.
  9. My preferred response to the above offense is to say (loudly): "Don't mention it. Oh wait, you didn't" The 2nd option is of course to allow the other guy to visit the bushes.
  10. And that, kids, is why you should never wash your helmet pads!
  11. I can see why Hairy says you're very smart!
  12. Thanks! I'm an IPA snob at the moment, but like everything. I have a stash of empties if your mate can use them, 330ml to 500ml.
  13. I'm beginning to like you...
  14. Good point, thanks for making it clear. It is in the OP as well: Nominations for elected positions can be sent to info@amarider.co.za. The closing date for nominations is 5 p.m. on 17 February 2014 The nomination form should include: Committee Position: Nominated person: Email: Phone: Nominated by: Email: Phone:
  15. Slightly clearer: 5.1 Secretary/Treasurer 5.2 Riders representative - Gravity 5.3 Riders representative - XC 5.4 TMNP liaison and fund raising 5.5 Public Relations rep
  16. I think since this is happening in the real world, the nominations have to be real too. Not only real names, but also contact details. To keep it decent I would recommend that we don't bus in voters that have never been to Tokai. Nothing against you, Slowbee, but as you said, lets avoid turning this into any larger of a cluster$#!& than it already is.
  17. So anyway. I see the main kahuna is out, but I'll still be having a drink tonight at Jakes. Anyone is welcome to come and meet the faceless horror of huck building, fynbos munching, rabid DH riders (and friends) You and I can get a private table and even candles if you don't want to be near Vince and Duane. Also, mikethebike, if you're keen on taming the troll under the bridge, let me know.
  18. I didn't want to do this, but you guys - all of you - leave me no choice. Please witness the absurdity of an internet fight fuelled by carefully, as well as not so carefully worded comments. I can go on like this all day. There is a Python for every occasion
  19. Listen. Not directed at you Cassie, thanks for the input.
  20. Hairy As far as I'm aware there is a temporary break in the maintenance until the AGM. Agreed to by Meurant, who I think at the moment has the highest authority in this in his capacity at AMA. It's a few weeks only, if the paid labour is having a hard time in the interim I am sure we can all pitch in to help out either with cash or groceries. Where can I send them?
  21. So why did you edit this one?
  22. Perhaps a pre-meeting is in order - in a public place so we all play nice.
  23. It's in the OP, I just copied and pasted. It seems this was actually started as a thread to inform Internet humour alert, please don't burn me with fire.
  24. Hi Thor. Sorry to say I don't know, but Deon has the posted the constitution somewhere - it should be on there. Failing that try asking at info@amarider.co.za
