  1. This is absolutely what my experience has been. When i’m out riding I have experienced this exact phenomenon. Just as a note. I find the KTM people now being so anti establishment they are the ones now almost acting leftist in their ways. I think the BMW people are like the right now. 😂 Fair disclosure. I’m a GSA guy
  2. I only started cycling two years ago. Thus my experience with cycling events is quite limited. At this year’s CTCT where I had a pretty sporting batch. After seeing all the crashes along the way I basically stopped “competing” as we got off the highway. It just felt downright dangerous. I’m quite passionate about getting home safely. I understand from the experienced road cyclists it was “safer” in the before times as there were more races and skills could be kept up. Now we have fit people from indoor training / MTB who go compete on the road once or twice a year, myself included. This is a disaster waiting to happen IMO. I’ve been following East Side Crits very closely as I like the idea of Crit racing and can see the appeal. In and out at a central venue with little traffic. Also from what I can see he has a dumbo category for people like me to start in. Where one can hone some skills before moving up. I’ll definitely be giving this a try.
  3. The last five days I spent riding in Spain. It was brutal. The climbing and being fat don’t go well together. 🫠
  4. The stupid little board for the front of the bike with your race number on. Does it have to be on the bike? The cable ties aren’t long enough for the aero bars 🫠
  5. Same. I had to give the uncle some lip. But I succeeded.
  6. Apologies for finding an old post to post this on. But found it pretty funny.
  7. Yeah, this is a “sad” situation. It should be a community helping each other out. I want to advertise my son’s old KTM for a very good price as I’m sure some other kid will get to use it lekker. But because of this reason I’m not and now waiting rather for a topic where someone really needs one and I’ll rather offer it privately. I feel the same way on this with Autotrader and Private Property. Back in the day it was a great platform to get the you actual asking price but also it was good price.
  8. I was merely making an example. I did mention expenditure will probably much higher. It’s similar to it not being possible to replace all fluids loss. But it’s important for optimal performance to fuel for it.
  9. This sound like I wrote this. Last year was my first one at 3:40 and 3:20 is also my goal. With my weight and w/kg I don’t think a sub-3 on this race is possible for me. It would, however, be rather sexy to tell people you hit a sub-3.
  10. For a 55kg female at 100 watts she will burn roughly 300 calories. This is already 75g carbs per hour. Imagine the load goes up. Now imagine a male doing easily double that per hour. 100g carbs is only 400 calories. By most accounts in this thread the expenditure is much higher. The point being. Fueling properly is in my very very short time enjoying this lovely sport probably one of the lowest hanging fruits to be picked. Why not exploit it? Get some maltodextrin and fructose mix at no more than 1:1 starting at 60g per hour and enjoy.
  11. Most of the actual science is supported by this statement. It’s all about gut training. And it’s not unreasonable or too to get to 100g-120g of carbs an hour. Some interesting listening in general but this was a goody: https://podcasts.apple.com/za/podcast/science-of-getting-faster-podcast-presented-by/id1552970725?i=1000577136102
  12. Maybe give Cerakote a go and let us know how it works on bicycle parts? I’ve not seen on here anybody doing this yet.
