  1. I'd seriously suggest the Merida One Forty 700, Goes new for 31k. I don't think you can get better spec for the price elsewhere. The reviews on it are also great. A buddy of mine has one and he is seriously enjoying it. The guys at Bike-addict stock them but reckon your local merida dealer could organise one for you.
  2. I would seriously recommend that Merida One Forty 800, the spec to price ratio on it is brilliant and it has great reviews. A buddy of mine got one recently and it goes really well. Another option could be the new Silverback Surface or Slider LT in a similar price range, but seriously that Merida is a winner.
  3. Another seriously good trail bike for the money would be a Merida One-forty from the guys at Bike-addict, or the Silverback surface in the 30k range I'm not sure how much the Titan goes for tbh
  4. That sounds like a great idea. I reckon if you're going for the alu version, it might be worthwhile going for the Alu Comp version that has the upgraded suspension for not too much extra in price, I also think that the Maxxis rubber may be better on the Comp version.
  5. Apart from a banger headache and a taste of Autumn harvest crackling in your mouth
  6. Ah yes I see now, but would plus be better for wet and muddy conditions that OP is wanting the plus for? Possibly putting the minion on the back and getting something like a Mary 2.35 or Butcher 2.6 for the front could be better anyways
  7. If I was you I'd seriously consider this Merida One-Forty 600 from the guys at Bike-addict https://bike-addict.co.za/collections/bicycles/products/merida-one-forty-600-2017 . At R24k I don't think you'll find a better spec for the price. Those Mattoc forks are highly rated and the rest of the parts don't seem like anything would need changing.... wide bars, short stem, dropper, 1x and decent rubber, seems to tick the boxes. I haven't seen or ridden one but saw the add when was looking for a bike for my Brother. Might be worth a look and I think the guys do free shipping
  8. Has anyone tried the FirstAscent free rider shoes? My xc shoes are on their last legs and was thinking of trying those free riders with the possibility of trying some flats to work on some skills but with the fallback of going back to my trail pedals if the flats don't work out?

  10. That external routing Lynne looks very similar to the TransX which I currently have and I must say that I'm very impressed. Haven't had any issues so far. Could very possibly come from the same factory.
  11. I got myself a 661 recon the other day and I'm very happy with it, but did also try the new Giant Rail helmet yesterday and it seems like a great lid for the money and the reviews seem good.
  12. I use a roof rack, find it much more convenient because it us there all the time, no issue of finding where to store the rack or being able to get into the boot etc. On your Merc it will be easy to get it on and off in terms of height. I do the CT-East London trip 4 times a year with my bike and it works like a charm, fuel efficiency difference is minimal. Check other options if racks aswell, holdfast and Rihno rack are also good Options. I'm personally using the VW bike rack on a tuhle wing bar on a Nissan and works perfectly.
  13. Had the same issue a couple years back eating tar when still was Longboarding, plate and screws worked well, don't even realise they are there anymore. You'll be out for approx 2 months. Don't try do too much too soon as it will put you back for longer. Heal up well man, at least you'll get really good at doing everything one handed
