  1. Wow 😆....just when we figured starting the CTCT off in the CBD with 65kmh winds was hectic....
  2. 😅😅 €2 vs ZAR 1500 ......sad truth
  3. Yeah that's the plan, fortunately we have a container with sufficient space to accommodate the bicycles. Choice is to buy a cheapie here and ship it with, or spend € cash there?
  4. We will be in Amsterdam for Dec, then nearer Hoorn/Zwaagdijk from Jan/Feb
  5. Thank you for this, seems like a 2nd bike is the way. Probs more economical to get one that side then? I have pretty much unlimited cargo space available on this side for my goods to travel to NL from SA, so I will be weighing up buying here in ZAR and shipping it, or buying there for immediate use....
  6. Hey there, I'm moving to NL in 4 weeks' time. Planning on bringing my (only bike I have) 29er MTB 1x12 along. Don't wanna sell her here and have to reinvest there for a new bike; the 32T upfront might be a challenge I hear as the ratios wont be good for flat road commuting....that said, knobblies will have to be removed in place of hybrid rubber I suppose?
  7. 100% thank you!
  8. lol....it's at this stage one asks whether I would be wanting to keep up with the tannies 😅😅😅😅
  9. No doubts.....been treated to that kind of humility by a bloke in overalls tearing along on an old 6spd steel bike before....
  10. Was wondering about the MTB chassis being a bit of an eyesore amongst the other commuter bikes 😄....she's only a hardtail, but still....
  11. Hi there, will a 29er equipped with regular MTB rubber and a 32T 11/50T set up be OK for riding/commuting in the NL? Commuting, social riding, etc.....or is it advisable to replace the 32T with a 34T and fit hybrid rubber....or shelve the bike and get a commuter? TYIA
  12. 15 - 20hrs...a week....fml....that's wild....😎💪🏼
  13. Seems like is defs a sweat/moisture issue. Riding on the road with the Marvel sensor didn't cause any dramas, but on a spinning/stationary bike it's been pretty crappy. Tks for the advice on the ultrasound gel and ride & rinse suggestions.
  14. The Marvel unit doesn't seem to like my skin contact area 😆, my partner has one and hers is 100%, mine on the other hand has an issue with sendi9ng feedback to my fitness app/device. It freezes and either doesn't come back on or skips between HR values quite erratically (ie: from 55bpm - 175bpm....then down to 50bpm) It's my second replacement unit so CWC has refunded me. It worked like a charm when I was on a bicycle, but since I've been on a stationary bike it's given issues (I use a XOSS GPS+ unit on the bike)
  15. Hi folks, is the monitor any good? Replacing my MARVEL (Chris Willemse + Cycle Lab brand) monitor and wanted to know if it's an 'upgrade'? New I can get it for R999
  16. Jheeez, glad that all are ok and thank you for the heads up...only ridden that route twice and both times it was dodgy AF....
  17. So would a new chain be a good upgrade?
  18. Yep, I saw a post earlier on the thread along the lines of the factory standard issue derailleur being "not right" .....any idea what that means? I posted the URL to the factory photo gallery of the bike on the original post I think
  19. Yeah so I tried the "adjusting while on the move" trick today. Which seems to work in certain gears, but then lacks in others. Maybe I'm too aggressive on the adjustments, but will continue to test to find the balance.
  20. Lol, explain?
  21. Bruuuuuu......😆😆😆....ex Vaalie indeed. Also, he used to own a huge panelshop in the East Rand that handled most major vehicle brands. Go figure 😆, price to pay when having a sea view in Blouberg
  22. 💯, My mate in question did this MacGyver earlier today.....are you suggesting something similair? VID-20230511-WA0045.mp4
  23. My few cents worth is that for what I paid and what I'm using the bike for, it's a solid 👍🏼 from me. I had Shimano entry level components before and they performed far more poorly than this set up. I saw a comment earlier regarding the rear derailleur, what should it look like as opposed to what it does on the pic I posted? 😆
  24. Shot, thanks for the advice. Will go for a ride and check the settings to fine tune the set up.
