  6. For the money The Crow's Felt FC advertised on the hub is a steal. Frame alone goes for R12k and it has to be one of the nicest best balanced (stiff/agile vs comfortable/not harsh) frames on the market. Throw in the EC90 SL fork and you have a winner!
  7. Alternatively you could go for this carbon beauty... CFS CT2008-03-14 08:00:44
  8. Hey Slowbee, Like The Crow says, best would be to pop in and take the bikes for a spin. We have all of the bikes he mentioned in stock, already build so you can try them back to back.
  9. Ti Bolts. All Ti is not the same! If it comes from the Far East - then it is probably not grade 5, with questionable vanadium and aluminium content. As far as strength goes. our ultimate strenght is up to 160,000 psi and we are 40% lighter that HT steel. Our Ti and alloy bolts are in made in the UK. Pro-Bolt supplies almost every Moto GP and Superbike team in the world - the product is that good. In SA, Kevin Evans, Gavin R, Andrew McClean, Robbie Setton, Pro-Line and a whole host of others ride our bolts and bicycle components - I warranty that the will be no creaking!
  10. Jamm, Before you pull the trigger, please come into see us and let me personally quote - you might be a tad suprised CFS
  11. We have all the stem, handlebar, saddle, chain ring, etc., bolts that you require - all in aluminium and titanium (pro-Bolt importer) Available at Cycle Factory 021 552 8285 Best Ian
  12. Just some more food for thought: The "online price" for a Bell Sweep XC is R1350 on the site, we sell the same Helmet for R1400 and we buy direct from the SA distributor. I think that a R50.00 difference isn't that much - it just goes to show you that your LBS should be asked for a quote before one buys online.
  13. Many apologies - I now get it. Must have been all those drinks at Christmas.......
  14. Not so sure what is "funny about it", if you have other facts to the contrary about retailing in the industry, it would be helpful for you to put them forth. I am just trying to give everyone the perspective of a LBS - I am not opposing anything CW is doing, I am simply putting forth the reality of what lief is like for the retailer.
  15. As a small bicycle shop owner, please allow me to comment. On a 40% markup, one is lucky to clear around 8-10% after all overheads are paid. On big ticket items such as bicycles, the recommended retail price gives us around a 35% markup. When one takes into account giving customers discounts and paying 5% to the credit card machine, etc., your gross profit turns out to be between 20-25%, which dramatically reduces your return. Unless you are a large super store selling a lot of volume, it is almost better to keep your money in the bank. What you cannot put a value on, however, is the interaction with cyclists and being part of the sport - this is why most of us do what we do. In principle, I have no problem in what CWC is doing, everyone should be free to buy where they wish. If one actually looks at the CWC website, the range being imported is actually quite small in comparison to all of the lines that we and other dealers carry, so it seems a little unfair to say that CWC will be the death of the LBS. There will always be a place for online shopping, but there is also a place for the LBS, who will give you direction and advice, fit that broken spoke 5 minutes before we close, battle with a distributor of a customer's warranty issue, pickup a bike or do a drop off outside of the shop's hours and a whole host of customer services that an online service cannot provide. To some people paying a "markup" on product is worth it to have the added services - to some people it is not - and that is the same in almost every industry. Believe me, I wish the cost of cycling would come down and make it more affordable for the public, as this the formula for increasing revenue for everyone! When wholesale prices go up, we also suffer through lack of sales.
