  1. Unless you are absolutely committed to this why don't you rather start at Rooiberg lodge or Calitzdorp and go that way. As mentioned Meiringspoort is about the drivers on the day. Personally I probably wouldn't do it.
  2. True story
  3. If permission was granted and at the time you did this, would it be possible to drive this route? Small 4X4.
  4. You are the absolute problem with society. I have so I can do whatever I want. Thank goodness there are not many of you around.
  5. Da Doer is a lekka spot. And if you time it right you can hit a band and full kuir there on a Saturday afternoon. Proper Karoo style.
  6. Sounds like you going round in circles. My right leg is slightly longer than my left due to a crash a while back. I have no issues. Hope you sort it.
  7. If that is your goal then you definitely not asking what type of tyres to ride.
  8. Check with Prince Albert cycles. I am sure he could find them a good home. He also has many many riders through his shop that may need these. An outstanding donation.
  9. Bikes are like cars. The more you spend the better you get. Until you know what is what and who is who just use the bike you have. I wasted many madibas on bikes which were a sideways step. Get real info from a mate or a mates mate and then spend wisely. This sport can become a bottomless pit. Heavy toilet bikes make you ride harder. A good thing to do as a beginner.
  10. He should tap in to them soon and start using them then?
  11. If he comes on my farm without a permit and I break his arm... is that called déjà vu?
  12. Eish. I have an XL for sale. Good luck.
  13. Why have you moved to Nuwerus?
  14. What size are you?
  15. The mixed terrain is an excellent tyre for the front. If you can find it in a 2.4 then I would highly recommend it. The hard is more of a rear tyre for me. Not super aggressive but for the average to good rider it is a solid choice. Been using them for about 4 years.
  16. What can happen is if there is not enough grease on the bearings or if it has dried out then when there is force on the headset the metal on metal sound sounds exactly like a clicking sound. So an easy fix.
  17. Just in case... if anyone has a contact or works at Hollard please let me know. Not cycling related but insurance related. Any help would be appreciated.
  18. I think Kevin Evans owns an amazing bike shop somewhere there. Pop in and see them. You might even find something you need there. I was there a while back and they guys in the shop were super friendly and helpful.
  19. Has no one finished yet? Normally someone is swinging a bag about by now.
  20. wow... they have added a nut to the arm and leg they wanted last year 🤑😆
  21. There are several FB groups. Join them. Their information is a lot more concentrated on what you are looking for.
  22. There are 2 things I know. Any bike will do. Anything can be converted and made to work. For short trips like you are planning you should be fine. The issue with carbon is, it just snaps when it has had enough. Metal gives you a bend first before failure. Guys doing big trips use steel or titanium for the strength. This is because they carry upwards of 35kgs extra. Also if it breaks even in darkest Africa you can weld a steel frame. Get yourself packed. Then take away 50% of that stuff. You need very little on short trips. Take more pictures than stuff. That area is really beautiful.
  23. I have run out of arms and legs to pay for these races.
  24. Hi. Is there anyone here who has direct insurance knowledge. I need some help please. It is in regards to a vehicle. Thanks. 0795256841 WhatsApp if possible.
  25. Park in Ceres and ride down to Calvinia and back. You will enjoy that. Or as far as you want to go. That road is second to none for this sort of thing.
