mannie's a legend - how old is he now?.....MTB'ers are tough. Oh yeah!
  2. Brlackburn make a CO2 adaptor that uses a threadless cartridge. The adaptor however is big and has a multitool and chainbreaker as part of it. Very useful in my experience! They can be ordered from Omnico. They do only have 16g Co2 cartridges though.
  3. You probably put on weight because you put on muscle! It does weigh more than fat you know! When I take my break in the off season I usually lose weight at first because I lose a bit of muscle mass, then I start putting on weight after about a week.
  4. Anyone ever cycled to the mast from Tokai forest? 10.9km and over 1000m ascent, half gravel, half tar, is killer in a howling south easter! record set by Darren Lill on his road bike! 38min! fastest mountain biker around 43min!
  5. Cool, will try that next time!
  6. Breeze, if they are mountain bikers then they are by UCI law not allowed to race World Champs if they are not 17 years old. So i suppose they have to award them colours. But its a good point, I will ask about it!
  7. the lotto money was used to send the Olympic squad overseas for a period before world champs to get uci points, but only a few riders contributed to the points tally properly!
  8. Dont worry I already missed out a few nights sleep over that one!
  9. I rode S.A champs and came second, only to the famous Burry Stander in U23, was only beaten by him, Mark Basingthwaight, and Kevin Evans in Pro-Elite. Its a crying shame
  10. I race XC mountain bikes very competitively, and was chosen to represent S.A. at world champs in Fort William earlier this year. In mountain biking we have to pay for ourselves to go to Worlds, and me being a student I couldn't afford it. I found out the other day to my horror that I would not get my S.A colours because I did nor race worlds! To me that dos not seem right. That is like putting a R25 000 price tag on getting your S.A colours! What is even more annoying is that other riders which i frequently beat, but were chosen for the team, can get their colours just because they went! How fair is that? Especially after training so hard this year, and putting all my focus on building up for worlds, and then not being able to afford it, that really broke me. Cycling should not be a sport which segregates the haves and the have-nots. How good is that for development? Especially when one of their top riders cannot earn their colours just because they can't afford to "buy" them. Any comments?
  11. U say thats sexier than a beautiful carbon monocoque frame? u must b joking!
