  1. Will Killlarney racing start up again in Sep 2013 ?
  2. Im 44 and weighs in at a hefty 90kg. 1.83 tall. so by no means skinny this ht vs fs is all hype. look at the guys riding ht steel bikes singe speed. That is what it is all about. i have a ds 26er but am getting a 29ht to toughen up again. ive been getting slack and soft over the last couple of years... so toughen up and ride. Stop giving the bike the blame if someone passes you on a ride. I have passed many ht 29ers and 26ers on my ds. I have also been passed by many 29ers and 26ers on my ds.... its not about the bike. if you train hard, you can ride anything....
  3. The ONLY reason you dont do it is....... ITS TOO SCARY!!! and thats the bottom line. riding into traffic is like 10 times more nerve wracking than with the flow. ask me i know. i have been knocked over by a bus on my roadbike before and im pretty nervous in the traffic. I do commute however and it is much much much more relaxing going with the flow than against it. there is just something about seeing the k@k coming that makes me uneasy. its the ostrich mentality that allows me to continue to ride on the roads.....
  4. That is excactly right. My Xt cluster lasted me almost 4 years. all training, races and one epic included. How can this be you would ask ? its simple. I clean my cluster after every ride, change my chain and lube every time. (i ride with 2 chains and swop them after every ride) also make sure you measure your chains often. as soon as it goes out of regulation, change it.
  5. Thanks Hairy. As i posted in my original post, not many people would do what you did today, so thanks again. Ill get the battery from you this afternoon after work.
  6. Ok once again I find the Hub and our cycling community working together for the good of the cyclist (me in this case) Thanks goes out to Hairy who has picked up my battery and wanted to get it back to its owner asap. Not many people would react in this manner, so i vote for Hairy as President..... Thanks Hairy.
  7. Hi guys/girls Anyone in the tableview/milnerton area commuting to town via the bicycle lanes maybe pick up my battery this morning. I lost my battery (it somehow fell out of my backpack) this morning while commuting. It is a 7.4V battery in a clear waterbottle with a magishine type connector. Hopefully some good samaritan picked it up.......
  8. Cramping just sucks. I cramp all the time. even when sitting i sometimes cramp in my feet and when i get up my legs normally cramp. I dont know how to fix it , being through all the kinds of treatments possible. training helps a bit, stretching to a degree, but believe me it stikes at random. I have had cramping within the first 20 minutes of riding. then again sometimes i can ride for 4 hours hard and i dont cramp at all. you just dont know.
  9. Yip i ride mine open and feel more connected to the climb with less jumping around over the small boulders and obstacles as the shock smoothes out the ride. on a long climb after a hard day in the saddle it really makes the difficult climbs easier.
  10. Ok after 3 weeks this is what it looks like now.....
  11. Just hang in there GMan - itll come with time
  12. Show your Mo, Hubbers. After a full week there should be some awesome mo's hanging.. Heres mine so far.
  13. Andydude, you are quite right. I am not slating PPA for one second. I think their system is fine and it works somehow. I would just like to see it applied more consistently. If you ride the same race over 2 years, and the winning time and course stays the same, one would think that your seeding index would be the same if your time is more or less the same. this however is not the case as it stands today. Granted that the formula might have changed (i think they cahnged it desember last year). the problem is that the seeding indexes of the previous races should then also be calculated with the new formula. Anyway. enough from my side as well. I think i would not have been moaning if my seeding was better that what it currently is. I would not have been moaning if i was fitter and faster and kicked some more ass. then the seeding index would have been perfect and working perfectly in my my eyes. I think we all silently think we are way better than we really are and when we are found wanting, we moan and groan like little children. so i for one is going to toughen up and stop complaining and just enjoy my cycling again. nuff said.....
  14. The problem is that these strong guys all stay in H and they break my legs off every race. It does not seem to me that anything is changing. No one is moving up. I mean the top H guys in the onetonner did a 4:10 or something. That is superfast and this caused a lot of us to break our legs trying to keep up and lose a lot of time on that last sting in the tail towards the end. Although H is clearly very fast (like last year) I still find myself in the same group and not being able to move up. no matter how hard i ride. I dont know what to do get back to G or even F again. seems im doomed to stay in H for ever !!!!!
