  1. Yes, two suspects tracked and traced, one got in to a car that lead to a number plate recognition for public safety to chase. Unfortunately Claremont police took almost 72 hours to issue the relevant case number and documentation authorising legal authority to take case and follow them so they got away and the bike has been hidden now and possibly stepped out sold off as material. This bike was also partly crowd funded and the owner pushed over 3 years of personal saving to buy this and couldn’t afford the appropriate insurance for such theft and incidents… she also works non profit so she’s absolutely devastated and will be missing out on all her planned organised rides weekend rides and daily commutes to gym work etc. detective involved said they caught owner of registered car but plead the fifth and pretends he knows nothing, out on bail, probably R500 at most…disgraceful!!
  2. Stolen: Giant Liv eBike Intrigue E+ Fatty 2019 When: 26/01/2026Where: Claremont, Cape Town, Western CapeStolen from Virgin Active Claremont Monday 26 January 2026 10:04 from the bikebay. Security had everything ready to have local authorities chase a numberplate of suspects in photo unfortunately due to slapgat policing we waited 72hours to be issued with a casenumber and assistance from the Claremont Police department. Relying on local patrols and public to assist us in hopefully recovering this to its rightful owner again. Just had it fitted with new Schwalbe Eddycurrent 2.8 Fatty tyres. XT Groupset and Fox36 Fork Liv Saddle TrekGrips. Unfortunately insurance doesnt cover bikejacking so they are devastated and very heartbrokenGet further details about the incident in the Stolen Bikes section.

  4. Try Olympic Cycles, they have a great team of guys&girls on all levels in most diciplines
  5. Bought a pair of FiveTen’s as its not available in SA. Shipping was reasonably priced on 3weeks delivery to post office with a standard i port tax applied. Still worked out less than normally priced shoes at the local bike shop, plus I got what I want. For parts I would use Merlin in UK, better priced than BikeInn
  6. What else do they have on the table?
  7. Recently switched to flats, as I only wear Adidas sneakers going for 5ten free rider was a no brainer, imported via BikeInn on special still came in at R1100. The leat ones are too light, not strong and wear out quick. The canvas 5ten is just stronger and better for the endurotrail riding I do now. For anything else I would recommend clip in shoes all the way no doubt.

Courier&Import duties will always be a keyfactor. Do your sums well.
  9. As a lightweight crosscountry rider, I’m wondering why this has not been explored on a mountainbike. With a decent chainring ratio for the skinny riders with lower torque it would be great to see..even on a full suspension. Suspecting some frame restriction as it requires horiontal drop out…?
