  4. hey guys Good luck to you all with the challenge, I made the decision last year to loose some weight and I managed to loose about 16kgs, went from 94 to 78kgs, The best way to do it is have as much fun as possible and to set goals So I started playing touch rugby and action cricket once a week and went spinning 3 times a week plus my normal rides on a saturday and sunday I also set my self little goals every month on my mountain bike, like trying to beat my previous time on my normal route or timing myself up a big ass hill and making sure that I improved my time each time I did it. It worked for me and I had lots of fun and it also helped with my riding as Im fitter, quicker and dont struggle up hills anymore So good luck guys

  7. Hey guys, I am overseas at the moment and am considering buying a Garmin Edge 500 bundle off CRC as I will not have to pay postage or any taxes, so three questions - If I buy it off CRC, will it come with Maps for SA? if not, are these maps easy to get and how much are they? - How much does the Edge 500 bundle go for in SA? Dont really have access to prices at the moment - Lastly, is the Edge 500 a good buy? Would you recomend anything else?

  13. Hey guys So Im working in france for the next 2 months and was ridiculously busy at work during November and December and as a result I have been neglecting my baby So in order to make it up to her, Id like to bring here back some gifts from Europe (CRC is looking pretty cheap as I dont have to pay certian taxes and delivery charges are also less) My problem is that I dont really have the greatest technical knowledge about bikes, still in the process of learning. So, I have a 2010 Merida 96 3000D and have a € 500 Euro allowance for excess luggage when I return, (unfortunately my Missus's shopping list will use about €150 of this) so I do have a bit of space in my luggage when I come home What do you guys recommend in terms of upgrades for my bike? Thanks guys
  14. thanks for the advice guys Will go have a look for some bikes tomorrow Not gonna lie..... the beer here is AWESOME... really good but gives a bad hangover Cheese and pastries are also awesome, just hope I dont pick up to much weight cos a managed to loose a bucket load last year
  15. hey guys So I have been sent to the Bordeaux office of my company to work for three months! I dint bring my bike along because A ) The insurance company would have charged some ridiculous maount to cover me and my bike B ) Air France would have also charged me a fortune and C ) I thought id be working my ass off, So.... since the only french I can speak involves ordering beer and food I have been doing pretty much nothing apart from drinking coffee (and beer.... it appears that this is acceptable during lunch especially when the client is having lunch with you) and surfing the net I even forgot my bloody login details and have no access to my SA email.... so I had to create a new account So, it turns out that cycling and especilly mountain biking is pretty dam popular here in bordeaux So should I take the hit and go and buy a bike to ride in the early mornings or just carry on dreaming about my Merida back home? Also, does anyone speak french? I am looking for a cycle shop here to get some cold gear and other kit for when I get back to sunny SA, apparently no one understands me when I say where is the bicycle shop? The websites have also been pretty rustrating Cheers
