For anyone considering taking the plunge with the Bose QC25s on onedayonly today I can highly recommend them - I've had a pair for about two years now and love them! A colleague has the QC35s and, while they're wireless, the lack of a switch to manually turn off noise cancelling is frustrating for her (apparently you can do it through an app) I solved for the lack of wireless capability on the QC25s using this awesome device: https://www.amazon.com/Wireless-Bluetooth-Adapter-QuietComfort-Headphones/dp/B01MTQGY69 Works a treat and you can't notice it is there.

@ChrisF - are you planning on selling the Momsen? My almost 6 year old is at the interim stage between needing a 20 and a 24 so I'm looking to pick up a 20 inch for him - and with trigger shifters already installed I could be interested ;-)

To the two cyclists cycling side by side in the road (and taking up the whole lane) past the Milnerton flea market in the direction of Blouberg at ~10.45 yesterday - you're idiots! I just don't see why there's any rational reason why anyone should cycle on the road there?! I get that avoiding Paarden island one needs to make a plan but the cycle lane is great from the flea market (and the road is super tight) - please don't become another statistic - you'll only have yourself to blame!

Cheers for the suggestions.....I'll definitely try Meerendal with him next time. For anyone who is interested we rode at Oak Valley on the weekend. The kids area there (just in front of the MTB parking) is fantastic! Relatively flat with lots of different "trails" through the forest with a load of bridges etc...they loved it. My 3 year old must have ridden about 5k on his balance bike, he wouldn't stop! Definitely worth the trip through for it.

Hi all...really enjoyed this thread, some very useful tips! I posted on it a few years back about buying a weeride and the kid I bought that for has just turned 5 and is addicted to his bike! Which leads to my question - where else in the Tygerberg trails are good for kids who aren't that keen on climbing! Our go to spot is Bloemendal - he happily rides B spot and will climb from the car park up the jeep track to the end of the first set of vines on the left and join the single track there and shoot down screaming and roaring with joy! However that's definitely at the limit of his climbing and quite often there's a bit of moaning/complaining on that climb! I've ridden most of the trails but never with a kid in mind so amn't sure where else would be of a similar level for him so we can mix it up a bit? Thanks for any suggestions!

I have recently moved offices into town and was hoping to commute but just don't feel it is safe to do so. I had half hoped the work they're currently doing on the bridge over the N1 is a rerouting of the cycle lane but I presume that's just wishful thinking?!

Hi all Normally ride with mates (usually on the weekend) but happen to be free tomorrow morning and am thinking/hoping of going for a ride tomorrow (Wednesday) morning. How is Contermanskloof for riding alone? I've ridden it a few times with friends but always on the weekend when its fairly busy. I'd hate to be lying with a broken arm for a while or feel quite exposed to potential dodgey characters! Cheers

Flowta - he's 20 months and has been on the weeride since about 11 months. We started on small rides and gradually built up to longer rides. Never thought about having a picnic at the grazing spot. There's a picnic area around half way on the long route that we normally stop at for a snack.

Just wanted to say thanks to you all for the suggestions...we've been to Koeberg the last three weekends and he absolutely loves it!!! Every time he sees zebra etc he screams with excitement! Just need him to grow up and learn to ride a bike and we can tackle more technical stuff together

I have a weeride on my MTB and brought my son on some easy jeep tracks on a vineyard in Stanford last weekend....he loved it!! I'd like to do the same this weekend but amn't sure where might be most appropriate. Need nice jeep track with very little climbing (the extra 12kg should be good for training but I've to alter my pedalling position with the WeeRide attached!). What about Koberg nature reserve? Or further up the coast in the west coast national park (can you MTB there?). My wife is keen on the latter as she can chill at the coffee shop while we head out for our mini adventure. All thoughts/suggestions welcome! Simon

To be honest after trying the weeride I've pretty much decided to go with a front mounted one...the interaction with him was incredible....he loved every minute of it! I can't imagine having the same reaction in a trailer. It's not like I'm going to be racing down single track or even cycling on the road so I'm not too concerned with trailer vs seat safety. Am going to try and demo an iBert and will feedback here. The ideal one looks like a bobike mini city which is genius but hard (and expensive) to get to SA and looks like it needs at least two spacers in the stem to be replaced with the mounting

Squier - as I understand it the iBert is a little further forward as it attaches to the stem, but I'm not sure if I've currently got enough stem for it. Yup I know I'm riding with my kid but it's on a MTB that I've got fitted for me so I'm loath to have to change the stem etc each time I want to ride with him....maybe that's an excuse to try and justify another bike!!!! Hi all I've been reading an old thread about bike seats for kids but can't reply to it as it's old! I'm trying to decide between a weeride and a iBert for attaching to my Giant Anthem 26er (XL). I tried a weeride but am concerned it affects my riding style too much as I had to bend me knees right out. Has anyone tried a iBert? The only place that stocks them in Cape Town is city cycles in Canal walk and they were completely unhelpful when I asked about a demo/checking to see if it fitted my bike before I bought Thanks for any suggestions Simon

Thanks for that info Hairy I'll definitely look them up and see if we can get involved. Yeah I think Sunset to Dolphin on the road is the way to go alright, we'll give that a go and see how we fare. Don't think it was us Tubehunter, haven't been out this week until today :-( We were the ones walking from Dolphin to Woodbridge with 3 punctures out of four tires about 2 weeks ago...that was the final straw for me!! Hi all Came across this when googling to see if anyone else is getting punctures on the cycle lane. We're at 13 now since we started using the cycle lane. Was talking a member of staff in cycle lab and he was saying that they're having huge numbers of people complaining about punctures when using the cycle lane. He suggested using the road instead but that's a real pity. My wife and I started cycling recently as we live right beside the lane but with so many punctures we've had to stop using the lane which has meant the amount of times we get out is becoming less and less :-( Hopefully someone starts cleaning it soon...I read somewhere that once the buses start the company will be responsible for cleaning the cycle path but maybe that's wishful thinking!
