  1. Hey, I was about to buy a second hand alpine for R3800. Luckily the guy didn't accept the offer because when i went to my LBS, i figured out that you can buy its replacement, the Stride 10 for the same price brand new. Anyway i ended up going for the Titan sport 29er for not much more.
  2. Hi All, So after enjoying the road for the past 2 years i decided get another dirt bike.I was torn between the 26" and a 29er. I ended up getting a Titan sport 29er. I picked it up this afternoon and took it for its first outing. I havent been on the dirt since my motocross days and i really enjoyed the freedom of being able to jump off ledges, bunny hop up pavements and even just being able to wheelie again :-) The only problem now is that the weekend is so far away! Anyway, if anyone wants to get an entry level 29er for under 5.5K then have a look at this as an option. The first LBS i went to told me i was wasting my time looking for a 29er for under 6.5K., So i went to their competition and bought it there.
  3. Nice The Tenere is an awesome bike. Enjoy
  4. Hey Seeker911, Are you using the multisport training planner with your polar? Just started training for my 1st 70.3 IM next year and i am trying to find a good plan, would be great if I could get one that i can download to my polar. I'm just doing basic base training at the moment.
  5. Well at least you can send him a new one for R320. Just don't forget to insure it
  6. communication technologies? How old are you?
  7. Hi AndreZA I bought this watch because they advertised it as being able to record under water: "New Strap Technology - 5kHz and 2.4 MHZ The newly designed Wearlink Hybrid chest strap will allow you to transmit at two different frequencies. This is key because it is the first Polar watch in history that allows you to take advantage of two distinctly different technologies. While swimming you can use 5 kHz to pick up heart rate while swimming, however the G5 GPS unit will need to be placed in a swim cap because it is not waterproof. Still Polar has the only watch technology that gathers heart rate data from the swim now that Suunto has discontinued its Memory belt."
  8. Hey Guys, Recently started training for Ironman and decided to buy the new Polar RCX5 as it seems to be directed at triathletes as it is suppose to allow you to record HR while swimming too. The HR works perfectly during running and cycling. Unfortunately It doesn't seem to work at all under water. I have browsed the net and it seems to relate to the salt water. I have only used it in the pool at Virgin Active and i am not sure if this salt or chlorine. Even went as far as sitting under water attempting to get it to work(Must have looked rather strange) but it stops reading as soon as the strap or watch go under water. Anybody else have this watch or these issues?
  9. sensors all set-up and waiting to be tested in the morning. It did come with a cadence sensor too. Not sure if i like the look of the handlebar mount..... Its going to have to be a really early ride so I can justify cracking my 1st beer and fire going by 7:30 for the boks:)
  10. Just got call from Polar South-Africa to say that unfortunately they are out of stock at head office and in PE. Great service from them calling around PE checking the stores. So I am off to Totalsports to pick up my Bike bundle and get 20% cash back from Discovery Vitality I will keep you guys updated.
  11. I am also in the market for a new heart rate monitor/bike computer to use for triathlons. I saw the Polar RCX5 for the first time last night and it was love at first sight. The issue I am having now is which one to choose(Bike,Run or GPS).Ideally I would like all the accessories but I will have to buy the rest a bit later. So the question is, which one to start off with. I am thinking GPS as it is the most discounted in the bundles at only R200 more than the others. The big issue is that nobody in PE has stock of it an I want it tomorrow, not in a weeks time! The other thing I am worried about is that it wont measure distance training indoors(pool and treadmill) So i will see how I feel when I wake up in the morning, second option will be to go with the Bike bundle and not worry about the GPS for now
  12. Just got back from my 1st ride an all I can say is wow ! It's such a smooth ride, I can finally understand and justify why there is such a price difference between a 3k and a 25k bicycle. Def worth all the saving . Will post some pics after it's 1st wash and polish :-)
  13. No, its the older model, i think 6600? Comes with FSA carbon cranks, got a good deal from a a mate who was itching to upgrade his groupset.
  14. Thanks, It's a 2010 frame. Old stock = Good price Putting on Ultegra groupset, Richey Carbon bars and then some of my old components... Until i can save a bit more.
