  1. I have SLX and XT and they are different.
  2. Your weight on the day, tyre pressure, all chages the radius and circumference is 2 x pie x radius. But does it really matter if you have ridden 67.8km or 68.7km? it is more than 60 and less than 80...
  3. Let us talk rear shock geometry. The basic placements od the rear shock currently around on bike vary between: Shock below the top tupe - horisontal Shock inside triangle on the seat tube - vertical Shock outside triangle on seat tube - vertical Shock on one side of rear triangle - roughly 45 degrees like Merida Why the different geometries? Does it matter? Pros and cons to have the shock outside the frame triangle (space for 2 bottle cages for eg.) Would like to hear youe knowledgeable comments...
  4. PM me. First come first serve.
  5. I had Jucy 3 and stripped the tiny screw thet sets the lever distance during 2007 Sabie Exp (about a month after buying them). Had to do a boer-maak-'n-plan and then avid recons that voids the warranty and did not want to replace them. Replaced them with a set of XT and never looked back. Super easy to change pads and don't have to fiddle with them constantly like the maguras on my Tandem. When it is time I will replace the tandems brakes with XT as well.
  6. Tomorrow night there is definitely a 2 -2.5hr ride from about 17h30, and Friday night is open for debate.
  7. Anyone joining us tonight for another chilly Friday Night Ride?
  8. You will have to try and then tell us. I use virtual partner a lot and have not come across this scenario, but I would think that VP would countinue riding and you would have to catch up on your resting along the way. It might be influenced by the setting of Auto pause time as well. A good place to get garmin edge answers is the forum on the motionbased website. (google it)
  9. We had a lovely ride on friday night. All three of us. 33km in 2 hrs. Will do so again on wednesday night and friday night. I will post detail here.

  11. I have joined HARDY and his group in the past, but the trek from the north to the south is a nightmare at the moment. We do not want to compete, but merely have an opportunity for the guys and girls in the north to also experience a bit of dark and dirty. Pom1, hope you and your wife get better soon. Speak to you when I get back from Ride2Rhodes.

  14. There are a couple of more interesting options. So we can vary it a bit from time to time. (about 4 distinct options with minor variations)
  15. I was thinking Wednesdays eve around 17h30 to 18h00 for about 2 to 3 hours. We can start from my plot. Plenty safe parking and we do not have to negotiate tar roads.
  16. Any hubbers interested in a weekly or bi-weekly night ride in the northern side of Pretoria? We will ride in the area around the Roodeplaat Dam (North East - Montana/Kameeldrift). Let me know
  17. Those alarm type lead acid batteries should give you 7Ah. Your 20 watt halogen draws less than 2 amps. I used to get 3 usable hours from a battery. If your battery gives you 1.5 hours it has lost a lot of capacity. You also get a slightly wider battery that gives you 12Ah. For training the little bit of extra weight is only a bonus. (Train heavy, race light). Also have a look at some of the bigger shops (Builders warehouse in Pretoria) you find these 20w halogen lights with a narrow beam (i think 10 degrees in stead of the 38 degrees) These lights make very good cycling lights. I have progressed to the LED DIY light stage, but still use some of my halogens as torches and backup lights. BTW have anyone seen or used the new LED and 20 degree lens from Rabtron?
  18. I can send you a PDF file with more detail. If you are interested mail me at email@groep7.co.za
  19. One can brake it down into 3 1 week trips and do the self catering thing most of the way. If you are interested, mail me and we can get a group or 3 groups together and I will look at a tight budget option.jacostrydom2009-05-12 23:36:42
  20. Budget about R350 - R450 per day or thereabouts. Detail and cost depends on the group and type of support and type of acommodation
  21. Clarens to Clarens around Lesotho
  22. I am looking for a couple of mountainbikers to accompany me on a 14 to 20 day inaugural adventure from 15 August onwards. Riding will be: a: 50 to 80km per day (20 Days) or b: 80 to 120 km per day (14 Days) or c: somewhere inbetween depending on the groups strength. I can send you a PDF file with more detail. If you are interested mail me at email@groep7.co.za jacostrydom2009-05-14 12:22:05
