  1. can someone please send me a piece of steak from pretoria as i am in cape town at the moment... i need it from that specific butcher on the other side of town. the steak in cape town not as nice as those!
  2. soccer is getting huge sponsorship hockey is getting rugby is getting cricket is getting the list goes on... we had ikons riding the argus and cape epic... cape epic is huge! why? Why cant we have a huge stage race?
  3. with all the mileage we got from Lance in South Africa, sponsorship should not be an issue....? Look at cycling in Australia over the last few years... I think that those in management positions must seriously pull the finger as there are many corporates in SA. We just need to approach them in the correct way. The tour of Australia has gone huge now!!! Why cant we grow racing in SA?
  4. Anyone know what happened to this team? They are gone!! Not even the riders know what what in the pot...
  5. Of course it will differ as long as they compete over a "set" base price! ie. go no lower than Rx like i said ... a retailer told me that the idea was to increase rec retail price and those shops that sell below (or below the max disc. price) will be under presure from the wholesaler and can loose rights to sell that product
  6. its like the Zuma and Yenggeni issue. They did alot to get rid of the appartheid system, but does not mean they should not be treaded any differently to us ordinary people. you will always get AM fans guilty or not or CWC fans come rain or sunshine! Like someone said if "they" are guilty they must ...
  7. UOTE=Michelle] How do you know that the allegations that were made are "facts"?!?! Apparently the Hub has become judge' date=' jury & executioner... forget about the CC's investigation. [/quote'] you are correct. some times one can carried away as cycling goods are so expensive. these allegations need to be proven first. we wish all those involved all the best and most of all the out come will be or should be for the better of cycling and the cycling industry
  8. what is important is that we should not loose sight of the fact that these guys wanted to or tried to fix prices also putting "presure" on certain wholesalers not to supply certain stores. so i agree we should not personally attack these guys, but also not loose sight of what they tried to do. A retailer told me personally that they wanted to fix RRP's higher so that the retailer margins could increase putting pressure on wholesaler not to supply retailer giving "good deals" it must go through the legal channels first though...The Hawk CT2009-03-08 10:59:59
  9. LOL Thats also another way of looking at it and i am sure thay are pushing the premiums through the business account and hidding it in the Income Statement. Hope the auditor dont pick it up
  10. Had a problem with my bike yesterday and took it to the shop to fix (just before the Argus). I ask the owner what is the real story is or if he knows anything about price fixing... He made it clear that they wanted to fix the prices!!! He told me that he was also invited to this meeting and turned it down! He said what he was told by the mighty man (or organiser) is that they want to get the wholesalers to increase there recomended retail price (not decrease or make it more affordable) and kinda force retailers to stick to it. Marginal discounts would be discussed. If they dont stick to it then the wholesaler or distributer should stop suppling that bike shop. Then he tells me that "Mega" stores like CycleLab have huge fixed cost and why should he not discount prices to give the customer a beter deal where shops like the Lab cannot discount there prices for those reasons. interesting!~!
  11. the guys that start the cartel will get to do the inspections at shops checking sales prises recorded... then earn some maney on that front as well...
  12. how many of these distributors and retailers wanted CWC in hot water trying to give good prices to the public...The Hawk CT2009-03-06 14:20:10
  13. it was a well thought up response ...
  14. i am of the opinion that these facy retailers ripppp off new guys coming into the sport of cycling only to find out that they could have got it 10 - 20% cheaper just down the road...
  15. Alot of guys ride with a smaller frame and a long stem' date=' the smaller frame flex's less when under power. Look at most top sprinter's bikes. Boonen's bike is very noticable in that regard and even SA's Malcolm Lange is the same. I cant believe I know something technical that you dont know!!!![/quote'] is this theory or just speculation. When i bought my bike the product rep insisted that i must ride my size and not one smaller... says the brand insist ans the bike i bought is as stiff as hell
  16. and i'm only here for 4 races... so I'm not riding summer league its ridiculous to pay all up front. i wonder how many peeps will ride league this summer in SV? Got my number today and so far there this morning there were 69 SV' date=' and i know a few teams haven't even entered yet. There will be more than 100 SV i would say. [/quote'] wow!!! thats a nice size bunch! (nice numver for teh room (69)

  18. I can assure you that's not the case,, if some rich brat on his 50k carbon bike rode like an idiot THE WHOLE RACE I would be angry at him aswell.. this has nothing to do with race or anything, but these riders do come from a disavantaged background and I just feel that their managers/trainers should assure that they the skills to ride in a bunch before letting them do a big ride.. well take there race number and report those who are guilty. It seems like it is not the first time. Do yourself that favour. Also put your name to it. Fortunately I had or have no problems
  19. well i saw him on the bike riding from Chappies in mid Dec 2008!! Vey nice machine Shortlegs!! Congrats
  20. These guys are seriously cheap with there products. Called them for a price 3 weeks ago and they quoted R750 compaired to R1250 for a certain product.
  21. i dont thinks its fair to call them local rip off artists. they have a standard markup although some lbs do take advantage. i light of current enconomic conditions and tuff times why not by for almost half the at total cycling
  22. anyone in cape town who would like to put an order together and share the shipping cost??The Hawk CT2009-01-05 02:27:27
