  5. David is our best rider. Hunter normally get washed out in these types of races. Did he ever feature?
  6. where can one buy the kit??
  7. Can anyone tell me if Boonen and Betinni trains with power meters? I have seen so many pics of them and those machines they on with Campy record cranks... never seen a SRM or powertap on any of there bikes???? Seems like training with a power meter makes a huge whole in the pocket of the ordinary man for the final result... it does make cycling conversation more interesting though!!!
  8. Really interesting tread!!! From what I see SSISA did research regarding power and HR training in High Intensity Training. At the end of the day it seem to have found out that HR training yielded a greater improvement in VO2 max and Peak power output. This was scientifically proved and will be published in some International journal. <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> From what I see is there are documented proof that validates this. Can it be made available if the ordinary man would like to see? BikeMax ? Are you saying that there is research or data that can prove training with a power meter is better than training with Heart Rate (high intensity training). What I do know is that you must have prescribe power based intervals for your clients over a 3-4 week period? you have a log on system where all your client data is stored. Can you forward or make available information that suggests a greater improvement than 4-7% in power-based training. A power meter cost between R8500 ? R45000. This is a huge layout of money for the ordinary man in the street. A heart rate monitor will cost you about R300. The cost of a coach on a monthly bases is +-R350 (BikeMax)?. What I also do know is that if one spends this amount of money on power based training then you will make the time to get up in winter at 4:30am and ride your bike.
  9. All the Diskem Pham in Cape town. i get mine at Canal Walk It works out tp +- R4 per serving... My opinion - this is the best deal on the market for an imported product
  10. Cytomox - The best deal perserving... R270 for teh 2.04kg drum at Diskem... It a give away
  11. Giant/Mavic Years back Giant never wanted to supply a few shops so some guys in JHB brought in a few containers of Giant bike and flooded the market... guess what ??? Giant came begging them to sell there products!!!! I guess i will not support them as they are basically saying that CWC have joblot/reject RSys wheels and so on! How do you get joblot/auction/reject wheels in the first few months of releasing a product????
  12. Why by a top of teh range Trek or Cervello for between R25 and R30k?? There are very good deals on the market. Top end Specialised SL2 for R17K! Same like teh Pros!!! what the deal with being brand loyal... for what???
  13. If i by my Rsys through the "authorised" it will cost me about R4000.00 more!!! I take out insurance with that and it will pay more many years premiums should anything go wrong..... Tell the "authorised dealer to drop there prices and make cycling goods more cost effective for the non sponsored riders!!!!!!! They are rediculously expensive!!!!
  14. I have the SL2 and dont find a problem with the ride quality in terms of the ride. I have gel under my bar tape as well as a Fizik saddle. I know the specialised saddle gives it a more harsh ride feeling, but with the Aliante i have no problem.... smooth like a babies bottom... and no need for a Assos :-) I also had a bike setup done by Jeroen Swart... He is brilliant!!! I had 2 options... SL2 or IPS. The SL2 was less expensive and a current model Race Horse horse
  15. The SL2 is the bike to have. The IPS is a good bike, but its a 2006/7 bike you riding. Just been to a cycling shop and the owner of teh shop wants to sell the bike asap. It sbeen on the self for almost a year in the shop. Maybe you can get it for a bargain from them. It is also R2000.00 more than the SL2 and with the SL2 you get a current year bike not a 1 year old or 2 year old
  16. Hi Are you still renting your power meter? I would like to use it if teh price is fair. Need to check my power over periods, TT etc. My number is 0824553827
  17. its good to get a good coach after you cant improve on you own after reading... then redo there programs very year ... its cheaper than speding R500 a months... you still need to ride you bike!!!!!!!!!!
  18. They wanted 16K at Willie when i enquired!!!!!!!!!!!11
  19. very interesting topic. reasearch done at The Sport Science Institute by Dr Jeroen Swart revealed that well trained Athletes doing High Intensity Training (intervals) with a HR monitor yield great results in increase power and Vo2 max than those training with a power meter by more than 4% on a 3 week trial. Contact him for more details info. There is nothing wrong with a power meter. It is a great tool to see axactly where you are in training and where you need to be. When training HR it becomes more difficult to achieve the desired HR meaning you push harder to get the HR up over a 3 week period if you use the 4 week as a recovery week. With power it is more consistant but you never get to push out of teh zone in the 3 weeks. less effort is require to push the same power if you get more fit. If HR it becomes more harder...
