  1. You do not need any rim tape. Highly recommend to use them tubeless though. Waste not to.
  2. Rode the spruit this morning and am pleased to report that there is now a bridge across the stream/sewer where the see-saw used to be. Many thanks to whoever put this up. Much appreciated! Madala2008-09-11 04:59:52
  3. Hi Check that the inner cable is not starting to break inside the STI. Usually one or two strands break about 20mm from the end and then it all feels quite rough and scratchy. Cheers
  4. Hi Great tyres. I use them tubeless on XTR UST rims with Slime. I prefer using the Fast Track LK Control on the back with the Captain Control on the front. Weights of the two that I fitted last week were Fast Track LK Control - 559 Grams and the Captain Control 597 Grams. They are not as resistant to sidewall cuts as the Crossmarks but overall offer great performance and exceptional value for money.
  5. Hi There is a lot of interesting reading about legal issues relating to mountain biking on th IMBA web site. Although this applies to the American situation it probably still has relevance here. See:- http://www.imba.com/resources/trail_issues/liability_primer.html and http://www.imba.com/resources/trail_issues/index.html Cheers
  6. Specialized Tyres Note that the "Control" series of tyres are relatively new and according to the Specialized web site have improved cut/puncture resisitance. There was a pricing anomaly with these tyres for a while and the ones on the shelf at Dunkeld are part of that batch. When they sell those and get new stock it should be back to under R320. They were R295 about 3 months ago and are now R315 or R318. Note that the "Pro" and "S-Works" versions are more expensive than the "Control" versions. I have run them tubeless on XTR UST rims with Slime and have only had one cut sidewall in about 5000km. Not as bombproof as CrossMarks but dual compound, light, tubeless, work well and exceptional value. Your choice.
  7. Specialized 2Bliss Fast Track LK and Captain Control offer really good value at the moment at under R320. FPC Paulshof had the Fast Track and Cyclelab had the Captain on Wednesday.
  8. Hi. There are two common problems with the Edge 305. 1. The retaining clip on the mount breaks off very easily and although the mount still "works" the unit can then slip out very easily. Be careful! Replacement mounts are relatively expensive. 2. If you use it while mountain biking in wet/muddy conditions you will inevitably get a splash of mud on the face of the unit. What happens then is that a grain of sand/gravel will get into/under the pushbuttons on the front and they will either stop working altogether, stick in the down position or require a very hard push to activate. It is possible to prise the button off and clean it out but you need to be very careful not to lose the o-ring seal under the button. Try this at your own risk. Apart from that they apear to work well. Useful route information can be downloaded at www.motionbased.com Check it out. It takes a bit of perseverance to figure out how the web site works. Cheers
