  1. I am pretty sure the supplier of the bags has to pay KV to hand them out. It is all about brand names and the opportunity to be seen with the CE. That goes for everything inside the goodie bag as well.
  2. My opinion is that it COSTS everyone (excl KV) involved with the media coverage / TV highlights package too much to do a "go beyond the normal call of duty" job. It is simply the nature of how the event is partnered and marketed.
  3. Well done Jigghead. I have never had much interest in swimming but my wife did her first Midmar this year and loved it. I was looking on at race 4 and thought no way! Oh, and I will never ever comment again on people wearing lycra who should not be wearing lycra at bike races. What has been seen cannot be unseen.
  4. Probably a screw lock crown. Think you have to turn it anti-clockwise until it loosens, then you can set. Depends on the model, which model # did you get?
  5. Enjoy, one of the coolest watches around IMO. Agreed, took me half the day to set my Edifice's date / time. That was 2 years ago. Haven't touched it since, fortunately it has only gained about a minute. I never use the alarm as it is too complicated to set. But I have to admit I enjoy looking at all the little dials spinning around when you press a button.
  6. Wyatt sells specialized stuff and I ride unspecialized Shimano. I appreciate his sharing of knowledge and he knows I will return sometime in the future for more business, even if it is for something trivial. He did offer to find me the correct part if I did not come right elsewhere.
  7. I had to buy a press-fit Shimano BB the other day (for the first time) and got the best price at cycle lab centurion. I even received the correct part first time, which impressed me to no end. I did not ask for the part # directly, but gave enough clues. I have to give credit to Wyatt who made me aware of all the press-fit possibilities beforehand. And I fitted the BB with a rubber hammer, apparently that is not the way to do it.
  8. Shuddup, it was my first race ever and I have a soft spot for it. River rubbish dump, Allandale broken glass and building rubble n'all.
  9. Buy some water resistant contact glue and fix them up. Should not cost more than a few bucks.
  10. Upgrading PC components, one of life's joys!
  11. I really like the Wollies beans, only recently realised Tribeca is just around the corner from my home. Pure bliss! I also get very nice results from the beans from Cherry Berry Café in Doringkloof. They only have one type but I like it a lot.
