  1. Slowbee, if you are willing to go to Durbanville for your buy, I would advise going to Willie Engelbrecht for Scott, and Geco Cycles for Giant,Schwinn, Merida, Mongoose or GT. Willie has exceptional post sale service, while Geco really try to fit your budget, and not sell you something more expensive.
  2. Schwinnie and I are officially offended.....
  3. 2008 schwinn moab disc SRAM x.7 front SRAM x.9 Back Rock Shox Tora fork Avid Juicy 3 Hydrolic disc brakes R7000 Best value for money in my opinion, had to make this choice december and ultimately spent R500 more than my planned budget, but got a much better bike.
  4. I know mtb route from brackenfell to stellenbosch, then you can do coetzenburg, jonkers, and if you have enough left the helshoogte gravel route.... then return via tar as not to kill yourself
  5. For all the hubbers not going away easter weekend, how about a social ride.... MTB, from Brackenfell, to Stellenbosch and then we hit the Stellenbosch routes. Keep me "posted"!
  6. I have a Schwinn, and it hasn't let me down. I would be surprised if you can pay similar prices for similar specced Schwinn and Trek, because since Lance rode his Trek, Trek's prices have been inflated. I say go for Schwinn, but thats just my opinion.....

  8. Ek wens Fanie!!!!! Veral omdat ek ook 1.83m lank is, sou dit perfek wees!!! Maar nou is ek tans nog besig met my articles so die finansies laat nie sulke beauties toe nie!!!
  9. Preferably not more than 6k. But I'm not buying now. Just doing some research, since my taste buds have been prickled with yesterdays argus, which I rode with knobblies!!
  10. Hey guys. I am a mountain biker, but is considering buying a road bike for training purposes, and to race road events. What is the minimum what one should be looking for in an entry level road bike? Any advice? I don't want to spend a fortune as well..... J
  11. Rule off thumb: Always go for the bike with the best specs within your budget.... better parts more important than a few hundred grams on a lighter frame.... IMO!
  12. gparsons, just one quick thought..... are you at your ideal race weight? I myself can lose another 10kg on myself before worrying about the 1kg at most 5k can give me on my bike..... if not, by the time you reach ideal race weight you can upgrade to your dual suspension and then you will fly!
  13. must admit,my bike a bit on the heavy side.... also 14,5kg. but I use this for extreme training, until one day I upgrade to my 10,5kg full susser!! J
  14. looks like I did quite a bit of marketing for Focus today.....
  15. yip! I got the schwinn moab disc. Has got about the same specs as the talon, but goes for the alias's price..... I'm a happy camper! But it all depends on your budget. If you can, I say go full sus straight away, wanting to upgrade is very expensive, mtb's have no second hand value!!
  16. are you only looking at giant? otherwise there is lots of better options....
  17. The rep at the Argus expo told me they don't have an agent yet, will only have meetings with dealers after the expo.....
  18. yip! that's the one, you get three versions, the First, First Expert, and First Team. The above specs are the expert, the normal first got SRAM and Rockshox Recon, while the Team is full XTR.
  19. That's exactly what I like Mampara, it's something out of the ordinary....
  20. Hi guys! I was at the Argus Expo last night, and saw a new range of German bikes coming to SA. Focus.... I asked the rep who the dealers are, and he said they are only going to talk to dealers on Monday.... Must say if I was a bike-shop owner, i'd give an arm and a leg to become their agent! Those bikes are absolutely stunning!! Anyone else seen them and been so impressed?? J
  21. ek is nou maar 1 maal 'n pinarello fan..... sorry ouens....
  22. I try to avoid tar as far as possible, but obviously you have to sometimes. As for pressure, I never go below 2.5 bar, usually 3'ish.
  23. Hi guys! I'm rather new to the mtb scene. I upgraded my tyres to tubeless a month ago, Kenda Karmas, but have noticed SIGNIFICANT wear on my rear tyre already. I love the Karma in front, but think of getting something else on the rear when this one is done. I weight about 100kg. Any suggestions? A friend suggested I keep the Karma front and switch to Crossmarx on the back? J
  24. Oiltrash, they were riding in bundles, using more than half the road, not talking about the shoulder, of which there were ample of....
  25. Hey guys! Saturday morning I was on my way to Jonkershoek and was shocked by the way cyclist was putting themselves in danger on the road. REALLY! Especially in the Stellenbosch region cyclists ride as if roads are built for cycling only! I know mostly it's reckless drivers of cars causing deaths of cyclist, but from our side we must do our bit! To all the roadies and mtb'ers riding on the roads: DO YOUR PART! J
