  1. I want to ride in the opposite direction - Linden to Crownmines
  2. R700?
  3. if only I can get my dirty hands on one of these...
  4. One can run most apps with a gmail account these days. So one login...very very dangerous actually
  5. I am 1.68m. I have monkey disease though...Arms are longer from finger tip to finger tip. I have 5 ponies in the shed. In order of the amount I ride them: 1. Intense Tracer 275 - use the most (Male medium) 2. YT Tues 2.0 - new, but look old already cause I rode it for 3 weeks in the Alps this last month (Male small) 3. Scott CR1 - (road bike so not for this thread, male medium though) 4. Commencal - SS (All the parts are there and it was ridden before but it is being made into Pink Panther ...I'll maybe try and use it for dirt jumping if I get into that) (Male small) 5. Scott spark 60 - the pony that got me into riding. I dont ride it anymore at all, I just dont feel comfy with the narrow bars and geometry (Male medium) I just LOVE riding my Intense. It's geometry is just so comfy for everything. From 100km distance to ramping ramps. And on top of it, I thing it is a super sexy bike. The newest memeber I have fallen in love with, YT Tues. There was a noise in the fork that just rattled my mind when I got it, but the 'fit' was perfect from the start. I have said before ....I believe geometry of a bike is as important as the size. And the geometry is determined on what you plan to ride.
  6. He is CRAZY! I second that. (Yes I'm jealous of his life style)
  7. You guys should really consider Meribel area. The riding passes are much cheaper and the trails have NO breaking bumps. There are plenty of lifts and the trails are pure rough terrain. I'll post pics and vids on my fb for those that's on there and can/want to load them here. Farking awesome not shaking due to braking bumps! Loving it. (Passes are for 3 valleys and the busses are free (for everyone) and bike friendly)
  8. I saw this at Makro over the weekend
  9. Exactly my point! [unfortunatly not all the other athletes have family support and finacial back up to afford an appartment in Itally (last I heard that is where it is). Not all can stay "months at end".]
  10. Well I see it as... 'it all starts with a 'can do' attitude, not a position on the podium' To explain for those who won't inderstand it....most of the people on podiums now were't there from their 1st race, but it started with a "I can do this" feeling inside them. Many people on the podiums over this last weekend has also started and not finished races (even if you only look in the last year). BUT it is determination that get them there again. Most of those other girls when competing on local grounds are competition to Ashley (looking only at the last few Argus Cycle Tour results), but fell behind this weekend (and at other international races)...why? (Rethorical question) Anyway....I am a HUGE Ashley fan. She is a great lady. Super smart and work extreamly hard. I love the fact that she doesn't need a team to perform and when you watch her ride the local races even the guys uses her slip stream because she is working up front all the time.
  11. To gain experience? Like Ashley said "I hope this will boost woman cycling in SA." It is a great motivation I am sure for all the girls out there if they see someone from 'their hood' riding at that level. It has been proven over and over in SA that our riders (or actually in most sports) improve a hell of a lot when going to compete at that level. If you stay and only ride in SA and not push the boundaries you will not improve or not know your true potential.
  12. 2 bikes and 1 frame bought online. One from USA, one from Germany and one from CPT. I didn't like the one I got locally though.
  13. Wow, that is raw!! Hope for them it doesnt rain. The oke that I'll be supporting isn't mentioned above
  14. Are we even going to get there... (re post from the other thread, but valid for all of us going)
  15. Anyone here taking Mineral oil with or is there a place to buy if need be? After what happened last time I am considering taking an extra set of brakes. (I have slx's lying around so might as well take them. (Dont want to strip the hopes from the Intense). The cables are looong so might need a re-bleed if I have to shorten them IF I would need a brake swap.)
  16. Somewhere in a dark garage in EU this Beaut-of-a-Beast is waiting for my love and affection...2weeks to the day (yes still long) to final set-up and then 3 weeks of riding
  17. water and lemon juice! everyday, all day.
  18. Rudi, I dont know "if you save R15k" cause the specs of the bikes are so different. I had a 120mm (crap spec) XC and since I have my 150mm I have not been back on the other one. (I must actually service it and just sell it.) I agree 100% with what Brian F said above! After riding my bike now for over a year I still get off and almost everytime say "damn I love riding this bike". Also don't get your mind set on just 140mm, look at the 150mm/160mm frames too. If I had to buy one now it would either be the YT Capra or Tracer T275 (luckily I don't have to choose now) both are a bit pricey though AND difficult to got into SA. The Pyga is a great buy too (don't know the cost). I dont know if with your history with Commencal you will consider that again, but their latest bikes are really awesome. You are welcome to join me/us on a ride (yes on the Spruit) and you can feel my Intense. (Warning alert, you might not want to give it back... ). I might be able to get you to feel another (160mmF/150mmB) to feel on the same ride. (Both bikes will have flats on, unless you carry the pedal spanner with and change them.) BIG NOTE THOUGH - I do not think my bike feels this awesome because of the 150mm - I do not think it is really the travel, but more the geometry that makes it great. (Yes in a way they go hand in hand, but adding travel to a crap designed frame will not improve it a lot) I think that is why the YT's also feel awesome, it is the well designed geometry. Let me know when you want to join, I leave home everyday just after 4:15pm.
  19. No man, 2 years are plenty. I've been on the bike for 3 years now (quite a few months off in that time too) and I think I might just learn a heck of a lot. The sooner the better
  20. Going inland from the coast is not so much on the "chilled cruze" side cause it has many long climbs. Going inland to a certain point takes me 1.5hours and back is like 30min. Simple dirt road route most of the way, but super pieceful and beautiful. (Even places with famous bike park names along the route)
